Bajaj Auto tops October e-2W sales, Ola slips to fourth
With the conclusion of October, Bajaj Auto has emerged as the top seller of electric two-wheelers, replacing TVS Motor from the lead.
As per data from the Vahan Portal, Bajaj secured a market share of 21.9% by selling 29,597 units of electric two-wheelers. Meanwhile, TVS Motor ranked second with a market share of 20.7% and total sales of 28,008 units.
In addition, overall EV sales crossed the 2 lakh mark in October. The month saw EV registrations of 2.04 lakh units, marking an increase of 11% after two consecutive months of decline.
With 26,713 units sold and a 19.6% market share, Ather Energy recorded its best-ever monthly performance, while Ola Electric continued its decline to the fourth position for the second straight month, with 15,481 units and an 11.6% market share.
According to industry experts, the strong performance was driven by festive season sales, new product launches, and GST cuts.
Bajaj experienced success with its Chetak Urbane and Premium models, which came with low down payment plans and cashback options. Meanwhile, the iQube line from TVS Motor maintained its impressive performance in urban areas, and Ather Energy’s recently introduced 450 Apex and grid expansion projects contributed to higher sales.
Earlier in September sales data, there were 96,031 EV two-wheeler registrations, with TVS Motor topping the list with 21,052 units. Ola Electric was pushed to fourth place with 12,223 units, after Bajaj and Ather sold 17,972 and 16,558 units, respectively.
Bajaj, TVS, Ather, and Ola continue to dominate the Indian EV two-wheeler market, jointly accounting for over 70% of all sales in October.
