Battery Prices of Top EV Two-Wheelers in India: Ola, Ather, Vida, Chetak, TVS (2025 Update)

The Internet has made it easy for anyone with a smartphone to comment about anything and everything. Be it on social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube, or forums like Quora, the most common argument against EV adoption appears to revolve around the battery replacement cost automating the cost of the EV to be similar to that for an ICE vehicle. But does this argument hold true? Almost every claim you see online tends to be based on a single assumption, “I HEARD SOMEWHERE.”

There’s no question as to whether or not you will have to replace the battery of your EV after 8-10 years of sustained usage. It needs to be done. The real question is how expensive is the replacement? On the internet, you will find several articles displaying differing estimates for the cost of battery replacement. To be frank, companies rarely disclosed this information in the public domain, for whatever reasons, but do not fret because EVINDIA is here to help. From the extensive market study, one thing is certain for us. The replacement costs differ, depending on the company, and this is valid even when the replacement battery has the same capacity. More importantly, it is possible to receive such estimates on future costs as well. In this blog, we will share with you what other major companies in the 2-wheeler electric vehicle segment have to offer regarding their battery cost.

Type of Battery and its Capacity

Electric Vehicles are now primarily using Lithium-ion batteries as a common type of battery. In the two wheeler segment, batteries usually begin at a minimum of 2kWh and can go up to 5.3kWh depending on your budget. But as you have guessed, higher capacity batteries come with a price.

What you should try to remember here is that, contrary to popular belief, batteries do not go dead instantly. The truth is that batteries comprise of multiple cells within them, which over time, starts to deteriorate resulting in low range and efficiency. Let me clear some of your anxiety here, these cells are replaceable which in turn increases the overall battery life.

Now you might say “So what, we still would have to change our battery after some time” Well yes! But that doesn’t mean it’s going to cost you more or approximately the same to replace it as you would for ICE vehicles. Let me explain.
