Ola Electric Commences Deliveries of S1 Pro+ with Indigenous 4680 Bharat Cell: Claims 320km Range
In a significant milestone for the Indian electric vehicle (EV) industry, Ola Electric has officially announced the scale-up of deliveries for its flagship scooter, the S1 Pro+ (5.2 kWh). This is the first vehicle to be powered by the company’s indigenously manufactured 4680 Bharat Cell, marking Ola as the first Indian company to fully own the battery cell and pack manufacturing process in-house.
Deliveries Expanded to Southern States
Following a ramp-up in Bengaluru (Karnataka), Ola Electric has now commenced deliveries across major hubs in Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Telangana, specifically targeting Coimbatore, Kochi, and Hyderabad. The company has stated that this rollout is gaining strong momentum and is gearing up for a nationwide expansion soon.
"The demand for the S1 Pro+ has proven what we set out to build, world-class EV technology made in India, and built at scale... We are now gearing up to take the 4680 Bharat Cell powered vehicles nationwide," said a spokesperson for Ola Electric.
S1 Pro+ (5.2 kWh): Performance & Specs
The new S1 Pro+ is positioned as a performance beast in the electric two-wheeler segment. By leveraging the higher energy density of the 4680 Bharat Cell, Ola claims to deliver unmatched range and acceleration figures:
-
Range: An impressive 320 km (IDC with DIY mode).
-
Acceleration: 0-40 kmph in just 2.1 seconds.
-
Motor Power: Powered by a 13 kW motor.
-
Riding Modes: Hyper, Sports, Normal, and Eco.
The scooter also features category-first dual ABS, front and rear disc brakes, and enhanced ergonomics including a new two-tone seat with supportive foam.
Vertical Integration: A First for India
The launch is strategically critical for Ola Electric. By manufacturing its own cells at the Ola Futurefactory and the Battery Innovation Centre (BIC), the company reduces reliance on imported components. This vertical integration allows for better quality control, cost management, and adaptation of technology specifically for Indian conditions.
