Ola EV sales increase by 30%, “working more than 70 hours” to meet demand: CEO
Ola Electric's CEO, Bhavish Aggarwal, announced on X on Wednesday that the company is off to a great start to the holiday season. The company's revenues increased by about 30% in October over September, according to the CEO. He claimed that all staff at the Futurefactory are now working more than 70 hours a week to meet the increase in demand brought on by the holiday season, and he ascribed the achievement to their unwavering efforts.
The allusion to "70 hours a week" is about recent remarks made by NR Narayana Murthy regarding the work culture in India, which have caused a sensation on social media.
He exclaimed on X, ''Very strong start to the festive season by the @OlaElectric team! Our sales grew almost 30% Oct over Sep! The Futurefactory is running at full speed and everyone working more than 70 hours to fulfil all the demands! 2023 is set to be a defining year for EVs in India,''.
Mr Aggarwal tweeted last week about the notable spike in sales of electric scooters during the holiday season. ''Every 10 seconds,'' he claimed, his firm had sold a scooter.
In the Indian market, Ola Electric offers a wide range of five electric scooters. The S1 Air, S1 Pro Gen2, and S1X are the three new models that the firm released in August. Each model comes in three distinct versions. With price ranges ranging from ₹90,000 to ₹1.47 lakh (ex-showroom), this wide variety of vehicles caters to a wide spectrum of consumers.
Notably, Mr. Aggarwal had previously supported Mr. Murthy's counsel, which is currently the subject of a lengthy discussion on X.
I wholeheartedly concur with Mr. Murthy's opinions. We shouldn't be taking this opportunity to relax and work less. Instead, he stated, "This is our chance to fully commit and construct in a single generation what other nations have built over many generations."
He tweeted another image of himself outside the plant with the caption, "Putting in the hours." Not just 70, but nearly 140! Just have fun—no weekends!
