Ola Electric Commences Deliveries of S1 Pro+ Powered by In-House 4680 Bharat Cell
Ola Electric announced, that it has officially begun customer deliveries for its new flagship scooter, the S1 Pro+ (5.2kWh). This launch marks a significant milestone as the S1 Pro+ is the first vehicle powered by the company's indigenously manufactured 4680 Bharat Cell.
With this move, Ola Electric positions itself as India's first EV manufacturer to fully own its in-house battery cell and pack manufacturing process.
A "Giant Leap" with the 4680 Bharat Cell
The new 4680 Bharat Cell is the core of this update, moving Ola from using sourced cells to its own proprietary technology. According to the company, this vertically integrated approach allows for a battery pack that delivers more range, better performance, and enhanced safety.
In a statement, an Ola Electric spokesperson highlighted the strategic importance of this development. “With deliveries of 4680 Bharat Cell powered vehicles underway, we are taking a giant leap towards achieving true energy independence,” the spokesperson said. “Our in-house cell technology enables us to build products with greater range, performance, and safety - all designed and made right here in India.”
The company also confirmed that its 5.2 kWh battery pack, built with the 4680 Bharat Cell, has secured ARAI certification under the latest AIS-156 Amendment 4 standards, meeting new government safety protocols.
