Ather Rizta Crosses 2 Lakh Sales Milestone: Family Scooter Now Accounts for 70% of Ather’s Total Sales

Ather Energy, a dominant player in India’s electric two-wheeler market, has announced a significant milestone for its family-oriented electric scooter. The Ather Rizta has officially crossed the 2 lakh (2,00,000) sales mark, cementing its position as a mass-market favorite less than two years after its launch.

This achievement highlights a rapid acceleration in demand. While the first 1 lakh units were sold over a longer period, the second lakh was achieved in just six months (since May 2025). The Rizta has now become the company's volume driver, accounting for over 70% of Ather Energy’s total sales.

Cracking the "Middle India" Market

The Rizta was designed to broaden Ather’s appeal beyond performance enthusiasts to the larger "family scooter" segment, a strategy that appears to be paying off. The scooter has spearheaded Ather’s expansion into Tier-2 and Tier-3 markets in North and Central India—regions traditionally dominated by ICE scooters.

According to the company, market share in key states has nearly doubled between Q1 and Q3 of FY26 :

  • Madhya Pradesh & Chhattisgarh : Grown from 7% to 14%.

  • Punjab : Grown from 8% to 15%.

  • Uttar Pradesh : Grown from 4% to 10%.

To support this growth, Ather has aggressively expanded its retail footprint, now boasting 524 Experience Centres (ECs) across India as of September 2025.

Specs, Features & Updates: What Drives the Rizta?

The Rizta’s success is built on a blend of practicality and safety features tailored for Indian families. It is available in two primary models : the Rizta S and Rizta Z, offering an IDC range of 123 km and 159 km respectively.

Key features that differentiate the Rizta include :

  • Massive Storage : A total of 56 Liters of storage space, comprising a 34L under-seat capacity and an optional 22L Frunk.

  • Comfort : The largest seat in its segment and a spacious floorboard for ample legroom.

  • Safety Tech : Features include SkidControl™, Fall Safe™, Emergency Stop Signal (ESS), and theft & tow alerts.

  • Connectivity : The "Ping My Scooter" feature is available via the AtherStack™ Pro pack.

Ather has continued to update the product to sustain momentum. Recent additions include a Terracotta Red color option, a 3.7 kWh battery variant for the Rizta S, and a major touchscreen upgrade for the Rizta Z announced at Ather Community Day 2025.

The Bigger Picture

The success of the Rizta has pushed Ather Energy past a cumulative milestone of 5 lakh (500,000) electric scooters sold across all models. Beyond domestic borders, the Rizta has also made its international debut earlier this year in Nepal and Sri Lanka, marking the next phase of Ather’s global aspirations.
