Ather Energy and MobiLane Join Forces to Revolutionize EV Charging in India

In a move set to significantly accelerate electric vehicle (EV) adoption, MobiLane, a rapidly growing EV infrastructure provider, has announced a strategic partnership with Ather Energy, India’s leading smart electric scooter manufacturer. This collaboration aims to create a more interoperable and accessible charging ecosystem for EV riders across the country.

Seamless Charging for Ather Users

Through this integration, Ather riders can now discover and use MobiLane’s extensive network of charging points directly via the Ather Grid and MobiLane App. This eliminates the need for riders to manage multiple accounts or switch between different platforms, offering a truly seamless "plug-and-charge" experience.

The partnership addresses one of the biggest hurdles in the EV industry: range anxiety. By opening up MobiLane’s high-density urban and intercity charging points to Ather users, riders can travel with greater confidence across both city streets and major highway corridors.

A Shift Toward Open Infrastructure

This collaboration marks a departure from "walled garden" charging networks. Traditionally, many EV manufacturers built exclusive charging stations for their own vehicles. MobiLane and Ather are championing an OEM agnostic approach, promoting a future where charging infrastructure is shared across different brands.

"Our vision is to build India’s most accessible and interoperable EV charging network," said Gunjan Mehta, Founder of MobiLane. "As EV adoption accelerates, open networks will be critical in ensuring convenience and confidence for users, regardless of the vehicle they choose."

Aravind Balagi Prasad, Head of EV Charging at Ather Energy, added that the partnership "strengthens the Ather Grid with high-quality locations," providing riders with the flexibility they need for long-distance travel.

Roadmap to 1,000+ Charging Points

MobiLane is currently on an aggressive expansion path. While they currently operate over 250 charging points in 40+ cities, the company has revealed a roadmap to scale to 1,000+ points across 100+ cities within the next 12 to 18 months.

The expansion strategy focuses on three key areas:

  • High-density urban clusters: Ensuring city dwellers have easy access to daily charging.

  • Key EV corridors: Strengthening charging availability on major national highways.

  • Strategic Partnerships: Collaborating with more OEMs and fleet operators to maximize network utility.

Why This Matters for the Indian EV Market

As India pushes toward its green mobility goals, the success of the EV transition depends heavily on infrastructure. This partnership not only increases the number of available "plugs" but also improves the utilization of existing assets. By making charging predictable and user friendly, MobiLane and Ather are setting a new standard for the industry.

The phased rollout is already underway, with priority locations live and full network access for all Ather users expected within the next 12 months.
