Ather Energy Hits 500+ Experience Centres in India, Eyes 700 by FY26 with Massive Expansion in Tier-2 & Tier-3 Cities
Ather Energy, one of India’s fastest-growing electric scooter manufacturers, has achieved a major retail milestone by crossing 500+ Experience Centres (ECs) across the country. The company, riding high on the success of its family scooter Ather Rizta, added 101 new ECs in just three months (June–August 2025) and is now targeting 700+ centres by the end of FY26.
The expansion comes at a time when Ather’s market share in India has doubled within a year – rising from 7.6% in Q1 FY25 to 14.3% in Q1 FY26 – cementing its leadership in South India and rapidly growing footprint in Middle and North India.
Rapid Expansion: From Metros to Tier-3 Towns
While Bengaluru remains Ather’s biggest retail hub with 18 Experience Centres, cities like Pune and Hyderabad (13 each), Delhi (9), and Mumbai and Chennai (8 each) are also strong markets.
However, the real game-changer has been Ather’s push into tier-2 and tier-3 cities, with new outlets in Agra, Jabalpur, Vadodara, Bilaspur, Sundargarh, Indore, Nashik, Coimbatore, Guntur, Kota, Kangra, Haldwani, Satara, Aizawl, and more. This strategy is enabling Ather to tap into emerging EV demand beyond metros, where affordability and practicality are driving adoption.
Rizta Driving Growth & Market Share
The Ather Rizta, launched in 2024 as the brand’s first family scooter, has become the backbone of Ather’s sales. With India’s largest two-wheeler seat, ample storage, and advanced features, the Rizta now contributes 60%+ of monthly sales and is directly competing with TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak, and Hero Vida in the family EV segment.
This strong consumer demand has been pivotal in Ather’s ability to accelerate retail expansion and build brand loyalty.
Manufacturing & Future Growth Plans
Currently, Ather operates two manufacturing plants in Hosur, Tamil Nadu – one for vehicle assembly and another for battery production. A third facility is being built at Bidkin, AURIC, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar, Maharashtra, which will expand Ather’s total annual EV production capacity to 1.42 million units.
At Ather Community Day 2025, the brand also unveiled:
-
New EL platform for next-gen scooters
-
AtherStack™ 7.0 with voice-enabled AI, Pothole & Crash Alerts
-
Infinite Cruise™ for the 450 Apex
-
Touchscreen upgrade for Rizta Z
The Road Ahead
With 500+ Experience Centres live and plans to touch 700 by FY26, Ather is positioning itself as a true mass-market EV player. Its dual strategy of premium performance scooters (450 Series) and family-focused EVs (Rizta) is helping it dominate across consumer segments.
The expansion into smaller towns is expected to further strengthen its market share and sales momentum, especially as charging infrastructure via Ather Grid (3,900+ points nationwide) continues to scale up.
