The facility began double-shift manufacturing in June, and deliveries have already topped 10,000 units in a single month. Since July 1, Xiaomi EV has further expedited the delivery of its SU7 series, cutting wait times after orders are locked in by up to five weeks, the company stated. “To be ready for more capacity ramp-up, we will soon be starting a fresh round of manufacturing line optimisation and maintenance,” said Xiaomi EV. In an attempt to reassure buyers, Xiaomi EV stated that the manufacturing line optimisation will not impact its July delivery target of over 10,000 units. The projected development of the charging network will provide electric commercial vehicle customers across the country with access to about 1000 strategically situated fast chargers. Local authorities were concerned about the competitiveness of local automakers, who have not yet figured out how to make their EVs both affordable and dependable, given the rise in Chinese EV exports to Europe. Brussels opened a probe into the Chinese EV business, claiming improper subsidies, in an effort to stop any negative consequences from the imports from China. Data from March indicated that over the first two months of the year, Chinese EV shipments to the EU decreased by 19% as a result of the probe. The EU is thinking of imposing a 20% tax on Chinese EVs in addition to the probe, which would cost China around $4 billion in lost sales. The Kiel Institute for World Economy issued a warning in late May, stating that European EV customers will also have to pay for it. Chinese EV imports are now subject to a 10% import duty.

The Scheme to Promote Manufacturing of Electric Passenger Cars in India (SPMEPCI) was authorised by the government on March 15, 2024, marking a crucial step towards revolutionising the EV scene in India. An adviser representing Tesla, The Asia Group (TAG), was present at the inaugural stakeholders' meeting in April. “We possess several representatives. After studying them, we could have the second consultation meeting in a month or two. Our role is to provide guidelines," the representative said. The official stated that they would want to be issued by the government through a consultation process, saying, "We will draft the guidelines, distribute them to potential applicants, and then call another consultative meeting." He said, "We will invite all, whoever wants to come is welcome," when asked if Tesla will be invited to the second consultative meeting. According to him, import duties can be waived for qualifying companies under the SPMEPCI as long as they spend USD 500 million on greenfield projects. "The plan was informed on March 15 and it was said that the government will open the window and release its rules in no less than 120 days.

To draw manufacturers like Tesla, the MHI is now developing rules for the new EV policy. To qualify for subsidies under the March 15, 2024, authorised SPMEPCI, automakers—including Vinfast of Vietnam—must invest as per the new guidelines.

A meeting between Niti Aayog and the companies running public EV charging stations took place on June 7. They spoke about releasing the app's beta version as soon as possible, according to the report. Users may use this app to discover the closest charging station, pay bills, and reserve spaces in advance. The Centre will run the app, with ADB providing funding. Since most charging stations are controlled by several businesses, each of which has its own special app, this poses one of the biggest obstacles for EV customers today. The difficulties faced by EV users looking for local charging stations are only made worse by the fact that these applications are incompatible with one another. Convergence Energy Services Ltd (CESL), a government-run company, had before proposed a similar single app. However, due to a lack of sources and the necessary information, things did not turn out as expected. It should be emphasised that participants at the Niti Aayog meeting also raised concerns about user data privacy and sharing confidential information with outside parties when the app is released. Industry sources have expressed worries about losing market share to rivals. In the meantime, Niti Aayog has acknowledged these worries and advised the industry professionals to collaborate closely with the government and come up with a workable solution as soon as possible. As of May 5, 2023, 7,013 charging stations are in use in India, according to The Bureau of Energy Efficiency. Additionally, Phase-2 of the FAME plan has committed Rs 1,000 crore for the development of charging infrastructure across India. The Centre has approved 2,877 charging stations in 68 Indian cities. In the meanwhile, under FAME Phase-2 has also been approved, with 1,576 charging stations on 16 routes and 9 motorways. Also, Oil companies recently got an allotment of Rs 800 crore to install 22,000 fast chargers at petrol pumps.
