VinFast VF6 and VF7 Ace Bharat NCAP with 5 Star Safety Ratings

Vietnamese electric vehicle giant VinFast has made a resounding statement in the Indian market before its official commercial launch. In a significant boost to its brand reliability, both the VinFast VF6 and VinFast VF7 electric SUVs have achieved a perfect 5 star safety rating from the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP).

This achievement places VinFast alongside other top tier manufacturers prioritizing safety on Indian roads, setting a high benchmark for upcoming electric SUVs.

VinFast VF6 Safety Score Analysis

The VinFast VF6, a compact electric SUV, performed exceptionally well across both adult and child protection metrics.

  • Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): The EV scored 27.13 out of 32 points.

  • Child Occupant Protection (COP): It secured 44.41 out of 49 points.

While the vehicle scored full marks in the side movable deformable barrier test and the side pole impact test, the frontal offset deformable barrier test revealed "weak" protection for the driver’s chest. However, protection for the passenger’s chest was rated as "good," and lower leg protection for the driver was rated as "marginal."

VinFast VF7 Safety Score Analysis

The larger VinFast VF7 also secured a 5 star rating, edging out its smaller sibling slightly in occupant protection scores.

  • Adult Occupant Protection (AOP): The VF7 scored 28.54 out of 32 points.

  • Child Occupant Protection (COP): It achieved a high score of 45.25 out of 49 points.

Similar to the VF6, the VF7 showed "marginal" protection for the driver’s chest and lower legs during the frontal offset test. However, it aced the side impact tests with full marks, demonstrating robust structural integrity during lateral collisions.

Standard Safety Features Tested

The Bharat NCAP ratings apply to the VinFast models equipped with a comprehensive safety suite. The tested units included standard features such as:

  • 6 Airbags (Front, Side, and Curtain)

  • Electronic Stability Control (ESC)

  • Seat Belt Pretensioners and Load Limiters

  • ISOFIX Child Seat Mounts

What This Means for India’s EV Market

These ratings act as a major vote of confidence for VinFast, a relatively new player entering the competitive Indian auto sector. With safety becoming a primary deciding factor for Indian car buyers rivaling range and price VinFast’s proactive approach to crash testing suggests they are targeting the premium, safety conscious segment of the market.

As VinFast prepares for its commercial rollout, these 5 star Bharat NCAP badges will likely be a central pillar of their marketing strategy against rivals like Tata Motors and MG.
