VinFast Sweeps Auto9 Awards 2026: VF 6 Wins ‘Value for Money Car of the Year’

In a significant boost to its Indian market aspirations, Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) giant VinFast has secured two prestigious titles at the Auto9 Awards 2026. The automaker was named “New Entrant of the Year,” while its all electric B-SUV, the VF 6, took home the coveted “Value for Money Car of the Year” award.

The awards were presented by Mr. Nitin Gadkari, Hon. Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, to Mr. Arunodoy Das, Deputy CEO of VinFast India  Sales. Organized by the TV9 Network, the Auto9 Awards recognize excellence in the Indian automotive industry, focusing on vehicles launched throughout 2025.

VinFast VF 6: The New Value King in India’s EV Segment?

The highlight of the evening was the recognition of the VinFast VF 6. Competing in the highly contested B-SUV segment, the VF 6 was lauded for its "outstanding value proposition." According to the judging panel, which utilized real world testing and technical data, the VF 6 stood out for its balance between premium features, competitive pricing, and low cost of ownership.

Mr. Nand Kumar, Editor  Auto at TV9 Network, noted, “The VF 6 stood out for offering a well balanced package... practical for everyday use, which made it a natural choice for our Value for Money Award.”

A Strong First Year for VinFast India

The "New Entrant of the Year" title acknowledges VinFast’s aggressive strategy since entering the Indian market just one year ago. The company has focused on building a comprehensive EV ecosystem rather than just selling cars. This strategy includes:

  • Local Manufacturing: Scaling up production capabilities within India.

  • Infrastructure: Developing a robust charging network.

  • Customer Experience: Integrated retail and financial solutions.

Mr. Tapan Ghosh, CEO of VinFast India, stated, “The double honor at the Auto9 Awards 2026 is a meaningful recognition of our efforts in India. This award reflects VinFast’s long term approach to the market, combined with a strong focus on real world consumer needs.”

What This Means for the Indian EV Market

With the VF 6 receiving critical acclaim for its pricing and utility, VinFast is positioning itself as a direct competitor to established players in the electric SUV space. The recognition from industry experts suggests that VinFast’s "user centric" approach is resonating with Indian buyer preferences for feature rich yet affordable green mobility.

As the Indian EV industry continues to evolve, VinFast’s early success signals a shifting landscape where global expertise meets local market demand.
