VinFast, NVIDIA, and Autobrains Partner to Launch Level 4 Robotaxi Platform for Southeast Asia

In a move set to redefine the future of transportation, Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer VinFast has announced a strategic partnership with NVIDIA and AI specialist Autobrains. The alliance aims to develop a next-generation Level 4 autonomous robotaxi platform specifically engineered for the high-density traffic conditions of Southeast Asia.

Unveiled at the NVIDIA GTC Taipei 2026 event, the project integrates NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion 10 compute architecture with Autobrains’ proprietary Agentic AI software. This combination creates a modular, scalable, and cost efficient foundation for autonomous vehicles (AVs), moving the industry closer to real world commercial deployment.

Breaking the Barriers to Autonomous Mobility

For years, the autonomous vehicle industry has struggled with high compute costs and "brittle" performance in environments outside of well-mapped, structured cities like Phoenix or San Francisco. By choosing Southeast Asia a region characterized by dense urban centers, unpredictable traffic patterns, and diverse road behaviors the partnership is tackling the industry’s "hard mode" head-on.

"Advanced mobility shouldn't be a luxury," says Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Duong, Deputy CEO of ADAS at VinFast Global. The program seeks to prove that if an autonomous system can master the chaotic intersections and motor scooter filled streets of Southeast Asia, it can effectively be deployed in almost any developing market globally.

Why This Partnership Changes the Game

  • Agentic AI Efficiency: Unlike traditional "end-to-end" AI that consumes massive computational power, Autobrains’ Agentic AI utilizes specialized agents that activate only when needed. This leads to sharper real world reasoning and lower hardware overhead.

  • Hardware Acceleration: By leveraging the NVIDIA DRIVE Hyperion platform, VinFast bypasses years of integration work, drastically shortening the development cycle for its autonomous fleet.

  • Democratizing Technology: Moving away from the "luxury-only" model of self driving cars, the partners are prioritizing accessibility, aiming to make robotaxi services a standard, affordable part of urban transit.

The Rise of the Software-Defined Vehicle

This announcement highlights a fundamental transition in the automotive sector: the shift from mechanical engineering to Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs). As cars evolve into "smartphones on wheels," the competitive edge is increasingly determined by cloud connectivity, AI driven features, and over the air updates. According to recent industry data, 45% of automotive OEMs now rank SDVs as their top strategic priority, outpacing both electrification and traditional autonomous driving.

The Road Ahead

With the Southeast Asian autonomous vehicle market projected to grow significantly over the next decade reaching an estimated US$27.3 billion by 2034 the VinFast, NVIDIA, and Autobrains partnership positions itself at the forefront of a massive commercial opportunity. By moving beyond experimentation and into modular, scalable commercialization, the alliance is setting a new benchmark for how autonomous mobility can be successfully integrated into the daily lives of millions.
