VinFast join hands with Indian company to extract critical minerals from battery waste
In a move to promote a circular economy, Vietnamese electric vehicle manufacturer Vinfast's Indian subsidiary, Vinfast Auto India has partnered with BatX Energies, a Gurugram based cleantech startup working to recycle batteries and recover rare-metal recovery operations.
Under the partnership, BatX Energies will offer VinFast India's production and post-purchase operations full-service high-voltage (HV) battery recycling, material recovery, and repurposing.
The recycling technique will recover critical minerals like nickel, cobalt, and lithium which will further be reintegrated into the battery manufacturing cycle. According to the company, this strategy improves resource circularity, lessens reliance on mining, and has a much smaller environmental impact.
According to Vinfast, the collaboration intends to promote regional solutions that align with India's rapidly changing EV market. Both businesses aim to provide scalable and sustainable solutions that benefit both people and the environment by concentrating on battery lifecycle management and environmental stewardship.
