Greaves Electric Mobility Names Vikas Singh as Managing Director

In a strategic move to fast-track its leadership in India's fast-growing electric mobility sector, Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML) has announced the appointment of Mr. Vikas Singh as its Managing Director, effective June 2, 2025.

With this appointment, Mr. Singh will now lead the next growth chapter for Ampere Electric Scooters, GEML’s flagship EV brand, known for models like the Ampere Magnus, Ampere Primus, and low-speed Ampere Reo 80.

Leadership for the Future of Clean Mobility

Mr. Singh brings deep leadership experience across India’s most dynamic and regulated consumer-facing sectors. An alumnus of FMS, Delhi University, he has previously held senior roles in both Indian and global companies, making him well-equipped to navigate the highly competitive electric vehicle market in India.

GEML’s board stated that this move aligns with the company’s long-term strategic vision to democratise green mobility and make electric two-wheelers accessible to every Indian.

Ampere: Powering the EV Revolution in India

Greaves Electric Mobility, the EV arm of 165-year-old Greaves Cotton Limited, has emerged as a strong player in India’s 2-wheeler EV space. Through its Ampere brand, GEML is pushing forward the goal of “Empowering Lives” with sustainable and affordable transportation solutions.

The recent launch of the Ampere Reo 80, priced at just ₹59,900 and requiring no license or registration, shows Ampere’s focus on inclusive, cost-effective mobility for students, senior citizens, and last-mile delivery users.

A Strategic Inflection Point

This leadership change comes at a time when the Indian EV market is witnessing rapid growth, spurred by government incentives, increasing environmental awareness, and rising fuel prices. With this move, GEML aims to expand its digital-first ecosystem, connect with new-age EV consumers, and scale its operations across urban and rural India.

“This appointment is a pivotal step in fortifying our leadership to drive Greaves’ long-term vision for sustainable, smart, and scalable electric mobility,” said a GEML spokesperson.

With Mr. Vikas Singh at the helm, Greaves Electric Mobility is poised to amplify its impact in India’s booming EV market. His appointment signals a renewed focus on innovation, affordability, and nationwide reach, further solidifying Ampere’s position as a frontrunner in electric two-wheelers.
