US-India partnership holds immense potential for EV and green energy: US Consul General

India and the USA hold vast potential for diverse collaboration, especially in the area of green energy and electric vehicle (EV) manufacturing, US Consul General in Mumbai, Mike Hankey told reporters on Friday during his visit to Goa. Addressing the present reliance on China for raw materials of EVs, Hankey underlined the importance of establishing a resilient lithium-ion battery supply chain, Pune Time Mirror reported


Hankey met industry experts from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) among many stakeholders during his visit, the report added. 


He said he was excited by the prospects for partnership, especially in the fields of green energy solutions and electronics manufacturing, which are essential to the clean energy transition.


“I see some opportunities for collaboration between counterparts doing advanced work on both the US and Indian sides in electronics manufacturing and in green energy manufacturing cutting-edge solutions,” citing Hankey Pune Time Mirror reported. He further highlighted the importance of exchanging business connections and technology, which could drive innovation in these sectors.


Hankey went on to say that the USA is taking steps towards clean energy as well while India too is facing similar challenges. He emphasised the significance of cooperation between companies and scholars from both countries, "There's a two-way flow of information and expertise," he said. 


Revisiting the moment of his trip, Hankey exclaimed impressed by seeing the state’s potential. In order to solve issues with cutting-edge technology like EVs, he also emphasised the necessity for companies to work with academic research.
