The percentage of insurance for electric cars has increased from 0.5% in FY23 to 14 per cent in March 2025, according to data by Policybazaar, ANI reported.&nbsp; The update is a result of the rising EV adoption in the nation which has marked a 16 times jump in the last three years. Citing Amit Chhabra, CBO of General Insurance at Policybazaar, ANI reported, "The accelerating adoption of EV insurance signals India's shift toward sustainable mobility. With EV insurance share growing nearly 16-fold in just three years, consumers are not only adopting electric vehicles but also recognizing the need for tailored protection." According to the company's internal insurance sales data, reservations for insured two-wheeler EVs made up 7–8% of all two-wheeler insurance plans during a five-year period. According to the company's data, the number of insurance has increased from 10,000 last year to 20,000 this year, and the percentage has more than doubled. This market sector is dominated by electric scooters, which account for 98–99% of two-wheelers with insurance. The five largest metropolises—Delhi-NCR, Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, and Mumbai-Thane—are where EV adoption is concentrated, and they also accounted for 55% of all EV insurance coverage acquired. With a noteworthy 18.3% market share, Delhi-NCR was followed by Bengaluru (16%), Pune (7.6%), Chennai (6.7%), and Mumbai-Thane (6.4%). With 58% of all plans, the data indicates that tier 1 cities control the majority of the EV insurance market. The statistics show that tier 2 and tier 3 cities make up 30% and 12% of the total, respectively. According to the data, EV buyers are increasingly choosing comprehensive insurance plans that provide extra protection in addition to basic coverage. Delhi is planning to reserve at least 20% of the parking space in all new buildings under its upcoming Delhi’s Electric Vehicle (EV) Policy 2.0 scheduled to be announced next month, Hindustan Times (HT) reported. In addition, the policy will also mandate older buildings to reserve 5% of the total parking for EVs to ensure charging infrastructure, the report added. After its expiration in August 2023, Delhi's previous EV policy was extended to 2025.&nbsp; New buildings with at least 20 parking spaces will only be granted occupancy certificates (OCs) if they feature at least four (20%) EV charging spaces, citing the copy of the policy HT reported. The law does not apply to buildings with fewer than 20 parking spots, but officials stated that a major structure with 100 parking spaces will have at least 20 spaces with an EV charging facility. According to the report, The directives will be incorporated into the building bylaws of the New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD). Citing a transport department official, HT reported, “We have increased the EV charging station targets by a lot as it has been seen that lack of charging infrastructure has been a hindrance in EV adoption, especially among private vehicle owners. With better technology, we are focusing on having fast chargers wherever possible”. Meanwhile, whether the requirement applies to residential, commercial, or all types of buildings has not been made clear in the policy proposal. However, according to HT, the transport department official, without releasing any details has stated that all public parking spots would also have a minimum level of specified charging infrastructure Moreover, the transport department will also install fast charging stations under flyovers and along Ring Road and Outer Ring Road to enhance the infrastructure for charging, the report added. Citing another official who wished to remain anonymous, HT reported, “We want to develop these two stretches as EV-ready roads, where spots are being identified for EV charger setup. Deploying kerbside charging points and points under flyover where free space is available are also options that will be checked. We are also introducing subsidies to ensure that setting up of charging points is a viable business option.” The proposal states that by 2030, Delhi wants to have 13,200 public charging stations, with one per five kilometres. Even though one charging station can contain several charging points, only about 4,800 (10%) of the 48,000 charging points that were required to be installed in Delhi by 2026 under the previous EV policy have been installed thus far. The policy suggests providing ₹15–30 lakh in subsidies to establish larger public EV charging stations. According to the report, a subsidy of ₹2,500 per charging point for AC chargers for the first 15,000 applicants and ₹20,000 for DC chargers for the first 2,000 applicants is being proposed for the establishment of semi-public chargers. The policy may also consider fining non-EVs parked in EV-only spots in public lots. As with buildings, regulations will be implemented to guarantee a minimum quantity of charging stations in public parking lots.

He said, "Within six months, the cost of electric vehicles will be equivalent to the cost of petrol vehicles," the report read. According to the minister, the government's objective is import substitution, pollution-free and cost-effective production. He further added that India must develop its infrastructure if it hopes to become the world's third-largest economy. "By making good roads, we can reduce our logistics cost," citing Gadkari, PTI reported. According to Gadkari, the government is dedicated to creating smart cities and smart transportation, and the country's economy has a bright future. PTI reported, "We are working on mass rapid transport on electricity," he said. Gadkari emphasized that in order to lower the cost of building new roads, innovation and new technology must be promoted.

The investment was approved by Hero MotoCorp's Board of Directors during its March 20, 2025, meeting. The investment, which will be made in one or more tranches, will give the business a fully diluted 32.5% ownership in Euler Motors, a three-wheeler manufacturing brand. The $24 million extended Series C round was completed within a year of the initial round. About Euler Motors Euler Motors was launched in 2018 by Saurav Kumar with its flagship model, the HiLoad EV which claims to be the most powerful electric cargo three-wheeler with a 170-kilometer range. The Delhi-based company recently introduced its first electric commercial four-wheeler, broadening its range of products. With operations in more than 30 Indian locations, Euler Motors has experienced notable expansion. In the fiscal year 2023–24, the company reported a turnover of Rs 172 crore, a substantial rise from Rs 49 crore the year before.

Made from the ground up, the BE 6e will cost ₹18.9 lakh and the XEV 9e is priced at ₹21.9 lakh.&nbsp; The vehicles are reportedly part of the company’s plan to launch 6 electric vehicles under the XEV and BE brands, with the rest of the vehicles scheduled to be launched by 2028.&nbsp; The company will start the delivery in the fourth quarter of this fiscal year. Ahead of the two new EVs' release, the SUV manufacturer is also updating its dealer network in major international cities. The pricing of the vehicles is set to compete against the well-known mid and premium ICE SUVs. To compete with impending EV releases like Hyundai's Creta EV, the strategy aims to draw in budget-conscious consumers while providing a premium feature set. Both the vehicles are engineered on Mahindra’s INGLO platform Powered by lithium iron phosphate battery packs, the BE 6e and XEV 9e have ARAI (Automotive Research Association of India)-certified ranges of up to 682 km and 656 km, respectively. Using a 175kW DC charger, the fast charging option enables the batteries to move from 20% to 80% in 20 minutes. And we will certainly consider that if the policy environment is something we can influence. It is not appropriate for us to implement that particular policy at this time. So, at this moment, we don't plan to take benefits of it,” says Balaji. “In the meantime, we'll keep an eye out for chances for CKD (completely knocked down units) manufacturing to make sure we can benefit from the 15% customs duty without taking on any more duties related to localisation or bank guarantees. We also kept the multi-vendor system in place for the successful ones. Porsche's first rear-wheel drive SUV is the entry-level model, which has a single electric motor located in the back. The Macan EV can accelerate from 0 to 100 miles per hour in 5.7 seconds with its motor's 360 horsepower and 563 Nm of torque. Its maximum speed is electronically regulated at 220 mph.&nbsp; Porsche has also introduced an available 20-inch Macan S alloy wheel and a new exterior colour choice called Slate Grey Neo. For the whole range, an optional new off-road design package is also offered, which improves the ground clearance by 10mm and raises the approach angle. A 100kWh battery pack is included with each of the three trim levels. The Macan 4S EV reaches 606 km on a single charge, the entry-level model reaches up to 641 km, while the range-topping Macan Turbo EV gives 591 km. Because it is built on the PPE platform, the e-SUV has an 800V charging design that allows for DC charging of up to 270kW. The Macan EV's battery can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 21 minutes with the right fast charger. Luxury electric SUVs like the Mercedes EQE SUV, BMW iX, and Audi Q8 e-tron compete with the Porsche Macan EV. The two new models are now accepting reservations, and delivery is scheduled to start later this year.

India has to boost its yearly addition of EV-ready workforce from 15,000 to 30,000 to achieve full localization of EV components by 2030, according to research by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers. The release of SIAM's 'EV Skill Gap Study' on Tuesday indicated that the introduction of EVs is estimated to directly create about 2,00,000 employees (excluding shop floor and contractual positions) and that recruiting and workforce training will require a total talent investment of Rs 13,552 crore. To achieve the government's target of 30% adoption of electric vehicles by 2030, the Indian automotive sector would require up to two lakh qualified workers. "To reach 100 cent localization of EV components, India needs to create 30,000 EV-ready workers year till 2030. The 2030 strategy requires India to generate twice as many EV jobs annually as it does now—15,000 EV workers are added annually," the research stated. Union Minister of Heavy Industries and Steel HD Kumaraswamy delivered the findings during a workshop organised by SIAM. 43 per cent of the technical competencies between internal combustion engines (ICE) and electric vehicles (EVs) have little overlap, and as a result, new personnel would need to be trained, the research further pointed out. On the other hand, current personnel may need to retrain to address the 27% of technical abilities that have a high overlap between ICE and EV. "The expected hiring cost would be Rs 7,671 crore, while the expenditure on training would be around Rs 5,881 crore. The total investment on talent is estimated to be around Rs 13,552 crore," the report reads. According to the research, by 2030, India will need sixty automotive R&amp;D centres. Only 57.44 percent of B.E. and B. Tech. graduates are employable and even less in the digital and EV sectors, according to the survey. The studies suggested that India revise its curriculum in 15 different skills. A 38 per cent professor shortage exists overall at the best engineering institutes. Vinfast, a Vietnamese manufacturer of electric vehicles, is planning to accelerate construction at its 400-acre plant site within the State Industries Promotion Corporation of Tamil Nadu (SIPCOT) industrial estate. Vinfast broke ground on its integrated EV plant at Thoothukudi (formerly Tuticorin) in Tamil Nadu on February 25, 2024. The integrated EV facility of VinFast India in Thoothukudi is the company's second international location (after the US) and its third plant overall, following those in Vietnam and the USA. With a projected annual production capacity of 150,000 electric vehicles, the plant is anticipated to create jobs for as many as 3,500 individuals. The CEO of VinFast and Chairman of Vingroup, Pham Nhat Vuong, has recently presented the company's ambitious growth goals, which include a focus on expanding into Asian markets. Vuong is still optimistic about the future of EVs worldwide. Vinfast, which is renowned for building new facilities quickly, currently projects that its India EV facility will open in the first part of CY2025, six months ahead of schedule. In the meanwhile, within the next several months, work is expected to start on a new facility in Indonesia. VinFast would have gone from inception to manufacturing in just 15 months if the Tamil Nadu factory began to stream by June 2025. VinFast plans to launch two fully imported cars into the Indian EV market before localized manufacture starts: a crossover hatchback (VF 5) and a compact SUV (VF e34). The VF e34 electric crossover underwent its first round of testing in India at the beginning of June this year. In under 21 months, it completed the construction of a paint shop, press shop, assembly shop, and engine shop, enabling it to build electric buses, two-wheelers, and passenger cars. With up to 90% automation, the Hai Phong plant is planned to produce about 9,50,000 electric vehicles annually by 2026.

Tata will also open specialised service facilities for its EV line as part of the development. This should make it possible for many of the new showrooms to instantly become 3S(sales service and spare) hubs. On December 21, the automaker officially inaugurated its first two EV dealerships in Gurugram. Compared to ICE showrooms, these spaces are entirely different in terms of layout and decor. Tata has also said that it would run entirely without paper and will use a new criterion for choosing staff for these showrooms. Its current lineup includes the Tiago EV, Tigor EV, and Nexon EV. In 2024–2025, the Harrier/Safari EV, Punch EV, Sierra EV, and Curvv EV will all join this.

With 39,637 units or 86.66% of the market's total sales in June, the top eight e-two-wheeler OEMs maintained their lead over the competition. Additionally, companies have seen pressure from decreasing sales as a result of the cut in the FAME subsidy. Ola Electric, which continues to have a commanding market share (38%), sold 17,552 units last month, down 39% from the previous month (May 2023: 28,629 units). TVS Motor Co. remains in second place with 7,791 iQube e-scooters sold in May, a 62% drop from the 20,397 units sold in May 2023. Following it are Bajaj Auto with 2,966 units (down 54% from 9,965 in May 2023) and Ather Energy with 4,540 units (down 49% from 15,407 in May 2023) each. EV retail sales for all vehicle classes were 101,832 units in June, marking the ninth consecutive month that they have topped 100,000 units, despite a considerable decline in e-two-wheeler sales.
