Ultraviolette & Bolt.Earth Launch 2,000 Type-6 DC Fast Chargers: Universal EV Charging for India
In a landmark move for India’s electric mobility sector, high-performance EV manufacturer Ultraviolette has announced a strategic partnership with Bolt.Earth to deploy a nationwide interoperable EV charging network. This collaboration centers on the Type-6 DC fast charger India standard, aiming to eliminate range anxiety and establish a public EV charging station network that is both scalable and standardized.
The Rise of the IS 17017 Part 2 Section 6 Standard
While the market has been fragmented with proprietary plugs, Ultraviolette is leading the shift toward the IS 17017 Part 2 Section 6 standard (also known as the Type-6 connector). This light electric vehicle DC charging standard is purpose-built for India's 2W and 3W segments.
The Ultraviolette Bolt.Earth charging partnership ensures that riders of the Ultraviolette F77 and the new X-47 can access one of the country's largest interoperable EV charging networks without needing hardware adapters. This "future-proof" approach is a significant upgrade over brand-exclusive systems, allowing for a seamless scan-to-pay EV charging experience.
Network Expansion: 2,000 Chargers in 24 Months
The immediate rollout is already live, providing much-needed EV fast chargers in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Delhi, Gujarat, and Telangana.
- Immediate Density : 50 upgraded stations will be activated in the next 60 days.
- National Roadmap : Bolt.Earth targets 2,000 Type-6 chargers over the next 24 months.
- Ultraviolette F77 Fast Charging Time : Using the 3kW DC setup, bikes charge from 0 to 80 percent in approximately 2.5 hours.
- Future Tech : The network will soon see the launch of 6kW and 12kW Blaze DC chargers, significantly slashing wait times on high-density urban routes.
Safety and Smart Connectivity
Safety remains a priority for the Bolt.Earth Blaze DC network. The infrastructure features a multi-layer safety EV charger architecture, including:
- Input Over/Under Voltage Protection
- Earth Detection & Reverse Polarity Protection
- Output Short Circuit Protection
Riders can locate Ultraviolette charging points and monitor sessions via the Ultraviolette and Bolt.Earth apps. As the public EV charging station locations for March 2026 continue to grow, this partnership solidures the Type-6 DC fast charger as the most credible pathway for India's performance EV segment.
