Tripura to establish 45 EV charging stations, ensures continuous power supply

To promote clean mobility, the power department of the Tripura government has decided to establish 45 electric vehicle (EV) charging stations throughout the state.

Further, to ensure a continuous supply of energy during Durga Puja, the department is also pushing to finish all the pending sub-station works before the next Durga Puja.

Speaking to the media after inaugurating the 33 kV Durga Chowmuhani Sub-station under the NER Power System Improvement Project, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath said the government is committed to modernising the state’s power sector. The Rs 9.76-crore sub-station project will directly benefit 10,945 consumers.

Following the opening of the 33 kV Durga Chowmuhani Sub-station as part of the NER Power System Improvement Project, Power Minister Ratan Lal Nath told reporters that the administration is dedicated to updating the state's electrical infrastructure. The sub-station installation, which would cost Rs 9.76 crore, will directly help 10,945 customers.

According to a report by India Today NE, Nath said, “We do not have a huge quantity of gas—it is slowly depleting and will one day run out. However, solar and wind energy will always be there. That’s why we are focusing on renewable sources to generate more power and revenue.”
