Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella Revealed: Toyota’s First Indian EV Offers 543 km Range

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has officially lifted the covers off its first all electric SUV for the Indian market, the Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella. A badge engineered sibling to the recently unveiled Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, the Ebella marks Toyota’s highly anticipated entry into the mid size electric SUV segment.

Scheduled for a market launch next month, the Ebella promises a blend of Toyota’s reliability with modern EV architecture, boasting a claimed range of up to 543 km on a single charge.

Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella: Battery and Performance

The Urban Cruiser Ebella will be available with two battery pack options, catering to both city commuters and highway travelers.

• 49 kWh Battery: Paired with a motor delivering 144 hp (106 kW) and 189 Nm of torque.

• 61 kWh Battery: Paired with a more powerful motor producing 174 hp (128 kW) and 189 Nm of torque.

The larger 61 kWh battery pack is the headline-maker, offering an ARAI certified range of 543 km. Unlike the global spec which may offer AWD, the India spec Ebella will be a Front Wheel Drive (FWD) only at launch.

Exterior Design: Distinctly Toyota

While it shares its "HEARTECT-e" skateboard platform and body shell with the Maruti e Vitara, Toyota has given the Ebella a distinct identity aligned with its global SUV lineup.

Key design highlights include:

• "Hammerhead" Front Fascia: A unique bumper design with vertical air vents and a blanked off grille.

• New Lighting: Sleeker, segmented LED DRLs and triangular headlamps that differ significantly from the Maruti sibling.

• Wheels: 18-inch aero optimized alloy wheels designed to reduce drag.

• Rear Profile: The rear door handles are integrated into the C pillar (similar to the Swift), and the taillights feature a segmented LED pattern without a connecting light bar.

Inside, the cabin prioritizes comfort and tech, closely mirroring the layout of the e Vitara but with Toyota’s signature dual tone black and tan finish.
