Tesla opens its second Indian showroom in less than a month
Expanding its footprint in India, Elon Musk’s Tesla, on Tuesday, has rented a space in Gurgaon for its retail and service facility, ET Auto reported.
The company will pay ₹40 lakh as monthly lease for the rented 33,475 square feet facility at Orchid Business Park on Sohna Road,
Following Tesla’s recent showroom opening in Mumbai, the new space in the National Capital Region will serve as Tesla’s second retail facility, established to serve important metropolitan areas.
Citing CRE Matrix data analysis, ET Auto has reported that after depositing a security amount of ₹2.41 crore, Tesla has signed a nine-year lease agreement, which will take effect from July 15.
The update highlights the market dynamics of Delhi and Mumbai, as the company is paying ₹881 per square foot as its monthly rent for Mumbai, while the Gurgaon space will cost ₹120 per square foot.
Tesla has started the initial site assessment process for possible manufacturing sites in addition to retail operations. According to the report, Maharashtra has been the company's top choice for the site of its planned EV production facility.
