Tesla has officially hit a major milestone in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) market, as the first customer deliveries of the highly anticipated six-seater Tesla Model Y L have commenced. This launch follows the recent introduction of the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), further solidifying Tesla’s strategy to provide a diverse range of premium electric SUVs to Indian consumers.

The Tesla Model Y L: A New Standard for Family Travel

Designed specifically for larger groups, the Model Y L features a three-row, 2+2+2 seating configuration with individual captain seats in the second row.

• Pricing: The Model Y L is priced starting at ₹61.99 lakh (ex-showroom).

• Performance: Equipped with a dual-motor All-Wheel Drive (AWD) system, the SUV delivers a 0–100 km/h acceleration time of just 5.0 seconds.

• Range: It offers a best-in-class WLTP-certified range of up to 681 km on a single charge.

• Practicality: The vehicle’s stretched wheelbase (an increase of 179 mm) provides generous cabin space and up to 2,539 litres of cargo capacity.

Introducing the 2026 Model Y Premium RWD

Complementing the launch of the six-seater variant, Tesla has introduced the 2026 Model Y Premium Rear-Wheel Drive (RWD), aimed at making the brand’s technology more accessible to a wider audience.

• Pricing: This entry-level variant is priced at ₹50.89 lakh (ex-showroom).

• Performance: It features a rear-mounted motor capable of a 0–100 km/h sprint in 5.9 seconds.

• Efficiency: The Premium RWD model offers a WLTP-certified range of up to 500 km.

• Availability: Customer deliveries for this new variant are scheduled to begin in July 2026.

Accessibility and Ownership

To lower the barrier to entry for the premium EV segment, Tesla is offering attractive financing options for both models.

• Model Y L: Monthly payments start at approximately ₹49,990 with a down payment as low as ₹6.5 lakh.

• Model Y Premium RWD: Monthly payments start at ₹39,990 with a down payment of ₹6 lakh.
