Tesla expands EV ecosystem, inaugurates charging station at Gurugram

In a move to establish the whole electric vehicle ecosystem in India, Tesla has established its charging station at DLF Horizon Center, Gurugram. The launch came after the recent inauguration of  the Tesla Center in Gurugram.

Tesla charger and its capability

The charging point has four V4 Superchargers that can offer 250kW charging speed. In addition, the site will have three Destination Chargers delivering a speed of 11 kW. The charger is compatible for various charging requirements including fast-charging to longer stays.

As per the company, Tesla Model Y can run for 275km after charging 15 minutes from a Supercharger, built on the concept of “Plug In, Charge and Go”. Moreover, the charger is reported to have a 99.95 percent uptime.

From December 17 to December 21, Tesla will hold interactive workshops at the Horizon Center charging station to introduce its charging technology to customers. The purpose of these workshops is to promote electric mobility and sustainable energy alternatives while also showcasing how Superchargers and Destination Chargers function.

Tesla's offer in India

Tesla currently has three charging stations in India, totaling 12 Superchargers and 10 Destination Chargers, following the Gurugram opening. The other locations are One BKC in Mumbai and Worldmark in Delhi.

To provide navigation towards the charging station and to check its availability, the Tesla App provides a single interface in-housing each function. The app can also monitor users’ EV charging progress, make payments, receive notification and precondition their cars prior to reaching the station.

The update came as the company is constantly increasing its footprint in India. As of now, there is only Model Y available for sale in India, starting from INR 59,89,000. The car comes with  home charging support to facilitate personalized charging.
