Tata.ev and Shell Launch 21 Mega EV Charging Hubs Across India: Fast Charging Meets Premium Comfort
In a major boost to India’s electric vehicle (EV) infrastructure, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility (TATA.ev) has joined forces with Shell India to inaugurate 21 "Mega Charging Hubs" across the country. This strategic rollout aims to eliminate range anxiety and provide a premium charging experience for EV owners on both city roads and highways.
The launch is a key part of Tata’s "Open Collaboration 2.0" initiative, focusing on building a high speed, reliable charging network through partnerships with global energy leaders.
High-Speed Charging in Key Urban Hubs
The 21 new hubs are strategically distributed across five major Indian cities: Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, Mysuru, and Vadodara. Bengaluru takes the lead in this expansion, now hosting a total of 13 Mega Hubs to support its rapidly growing EV population.
Each hub is equipped with state of the art 120 kW DC Fast Chargers. These high capacity chargers are designed to significantly reduce vehicle downtime, allowing drivers to power up their EVs quickly and get back on the road.
Beyond Just Charging: A Premium Experience
Moving away from the traditional "plug-and-wait" model, the Tata Shell partnership focuses on customer convenience. These hubs are designed as lifestyle stopovers rather than just charging stations. Key features include:
-
On Site Assistance: Dedicated marshals are available at each location to help users with the charging process.
-
Retail & Dining: Integrated Shell Select and Deli2go stores offer fresh food, beverages, and travel essentials.
-
Amenities: Clean, hygienic restroom facilities are standard at every hub.
Exclusive Benefits for Tata EV Owners
While the charging hubs are open to all EV brands, TATA.ev owners enjoy exclusive "loyalty" perks. Through the partnership, Tata EV drivers can access:
-
Up to 25% discount on charging tariffs (via the Tata.ev app).
-
Special curated offers and discounts at Shell’s convenience stores.
The Road to 2027
This launch brings the total number of Tata.ev Mega Charging Hubs to over 130 across India. However, the company’s vision is much larger. Tata Motors aims to establish 500 Mega Hubs and a network of over 400,000 charging points by 2027, creating a robust ecosystem that supports the mass adoption of electric mobility in India.
For EV owners in the South and West of India, these 21 new hubs represent a significant step toward making long distance interstate travel as convenient as driving a traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicle.
