Tata, at Auto Expo-2023, announces to launch Harrier EV concept by 2024

Tata motors

have taken the all-new concept of the Harrier electric vehicle (EV) at the Auto Expo 2023. Claiming the event's biggest surprise, Tata Motors showcased four concepts of EV in total, including the Avinya concept, the Curvv ICE concept, the Harrier EV concept, and the Sierra EV concept. The product-Harrier EV concept was presented at the stage of "close-to-production" and is reported to be launched in the market by 2024.

What does Tata Harrier's EV Concept have to offer?

Packed with Tata's Gen 2 EV architecture, Powered by ICE, Harrier EV's Omega architecture seems inspired by the Land Rover's design.

As the harrier EV still functions on the ICE platform, it has been majorly re-designed to provide electrical benefits.

Essentially, while the Harrier EV is still based on an ICE platform, it's heavily re-engineered for electrification.

To make it lighter and more energy efficient, the fuel tank area will have some modifications, and a flat interior floor will be added.

However, the company must still reveal the electric motor specifications or the accurate battery capacity. Also, the company still needs to confirm the availability of a dual-motor all-wheel drive setup.

With vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-load (V2L) charging capacities, the vehicle will be capable of charging any external devices and vehicles. The vehicle is expected to have a battery pack of 60 KWH, ranging from 400 to 500 km.

Tata Harrier EV Concept's exterior design & features

In terms of design, the Harrier EV looks broadly similar to its ICE counterpart but is also sufficiently differentiated as an EV.

On the exterior look basis, the EV has a similar look to the traditional Harrier ICE vehicle but has some modifications to it.

The split headlamp on the up-front is still carried along with a complementing LED bar light widening the SUV's look.

An advanced, spacious grille and a re-architected front bumper with deep-set and angular creases are also present in the vehicle.

The air-intake technology has also been re-engineered with a panel and more EV styling features.

Although there are not many changes in the profile, the vehicle still qualifies to get a name of an EV as it has fenders, flush door handles, and large wheels.

The EV on its rear side has a tail-lamp assembly consisting of a LED light tracing along the tailgate. The bumper in this section has also been re-engineered with advanced angular incidents and a smooth finish at the body cladding.

The rear bumper has also been revised with new angular indents and a smoother finish for the body cladding.

The vehicle seems close to production, and all the features and designs will likely be part of the final product. In addition, this could tease the design by revealing the ICE-powered Safari and Harrier.

However, despite a clear interior picture, the vehicle will likely have a large touchscreen with other features.
