SW MG Motor India Adopts Green Tech, Slashes 1,800 Tons of Carbon Emissions
JSW MG Motor India has introduced a first-of-its-kind Green Pretreatment line at its Halol plant, cutting 1,800 tons of carbon emissions annually. The shift, developed with PPG Asian Paints, marks a major step toward sustainable auto manufacturing.
Smarter, Cleaner Manufacturing
Traditional paint pretreatment requires high temperatures (42–50°C), consuming more fuel and increasing emissions. The new process operates at 38°C, reducing energy use, emissions, and maintenance costs while improving efficiency.
Biju Balendran, Deputy Managing Director, JSW MG Motor India, called it a milestone in green manufacturing:
"This innovation not only lowers emissions but also sets a new standard for sustainability in auto production."
A History of Green Initiatives
JSW MG Motor India has consistently focused on reducing its carbon footprint. Since 2022, key changes have led to:
✔ 787 tons of CO2 reduction using ULTRAX Degreaser
✔ 713 tons saved annually through low-temperature phosphate and high-efficiency coatings
✔ 47% total reduction in carbon emissions from manufacturing
Driving a Greener Future
With sustainability taking center stage in the auto industry, JSW MG Motor India is proving that efficiency and environmental responsibility can go hand in hand. The latest move reinforces the company’s commitment to cleaner, smarter manufacturing—one innovation at a time.
