Setback to Royal Enfield’s EV project? EV branch head resigns

Flying Flea, the EV brand of the Royal Enfield, has undergone a leadership shift with the Chief Growth Officer (EV) and the lead of the company’s electric-mobility branch, Mario Alvisi, resigning from his role.

The resignation coincides with a pivotal moment in Royal Enfield's EV development, as the company is poised to launch its new EV brand globally in preparation for the debut of its first electric motorcycle in India the following year. Alvisi joined Royal Enfield in 2023 to establish the company's electric vehicle EV) business from the ground up.

Alvisi is an experienced automotive strategist who has worked at Ducati, Abarth, and Alfa Romeo. He positioned the new division as a "startup within the company" and was in charge of establishing its product, brand, and business plan.

He oversaw the development of Royal Enfield's upcoming EV portfolio, which includes the Flying Flea project, an urban-focused electric motorbike designed in the company's UK Technology Centre and Chennai Technical Centre and modelled after one of its wartime classics.

The update marks a new level of consolidation and execution emphasis as Royal Enfield moves from global brand introduction to pre-production preparation. In addition, the update brings the EV vertical closer to the company's core commercial and product operations.

Royal Enfield has confirmed its intention to launch its first electric motorcycle in 2026, backed by increased R&D facilities in the UK and Chennai. Now that the company's top commercial and operational leadership is directly in charge of the EV division, the next stage will concentrate on supply-chain alignment, brand integration, and market preparation.
