Riders may enjoy more affordable Bajaj Chetak EV in near future
Executive director of Bajaj Auto Rakesh Sharma revealed that the company is trying to develop a more pocket-friendly version of Chetak EV. Right now, Bajaj is selling the Chetak in two different versions: the Urbane, which costs Rs 1.23 lakh ex-showroom, and the Premium, which costs Rs 1.43 lakh ex-showroom.
Bajaj is likely considering a hub-driven engine, given that Ather and Ola have recently reduced the pricing of their electric vehicles. A black-and-white LCD dashboard devoid of communication functions and drum brakes on both ends is two more equipment economies that the next low-cost Chetak EV may make.
Bajaj may perhaps use a smaller battery pack, however, as of right now, this is just a speculation. Observed during testing, the prototype of the less expensive Chetak version boasts the same design as the other Chetak models.
