Policy update: Women may have Rs 36,000 subsidy on purchase of EV in Delhi

Women in Delhi may get a subsidy benefit of Rs 36,000 on purchasing an electric two-wheeler. Under the upcoming Delhi EV policy 2.0, the Delhi government may roll out a women-centric EV subsidy for the first 10,000 women, citing an official PTI reported.

According to the update, women in Delhi would receive a purchase incentive of Rs 12,000 per kWh, up to Rs 36,000 on electric two-wheelers.

The EV Policy 2.0 intends to boost the adoption of electric vehicles throughout Delhi and will supplement the Center's PM E-DRIVE program.

The program specifies a number of incentives aimed at electric two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and commercial vehicles. It will be in effect until March 31, 2030.

The Delhi government may provide a purchasing incentive of Rs 10,000 per kWh, up to a maximum of Rs 30,000 per vehicle, to encourage the city's adoption of electric two-wheelers, PTI reported.

Additionally, registered owners who destroy their two-wheelers or other fossil fuel-powered vehicles will receive an extra incentive of Rs 10,000, as long as the vehicle is under 12 years old.

It is anticipated that the policy will provide a purchasing incentive of Rs 10,000 per kWh, up to Rs 45,000, for electric auto-rickshaws in the L5M category, which are meant to replace current CNG vehicles.

It is also anticipated that those who are getting rid of out-of-date ICE (internal combustion engines) auto-rickshaws that are under 12 years old will receive a scrap incentive of Rs 20,000.
