Octillion Power Systems India Hits 100,000 EV Battery Milestone: A Landmark for Local Manufacturing

In a move that underscores the rapid acceleration of India’s electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem, Octillion Power Systems has officially announced the production of its 100,000th EV battery system in the country. This historic milestone highlights Octillion’s role as a dominant Tier 1 supplier and a key architect of the "Make in India" initiative for green mobility.

A Milestone Built on Scale and Innovation

The landmark 100,000th unit was manufactured on March 20, 2025, at the company’s state of the art ‘Pune Two’ facility. Destined for a leading Indian automaker’s upcoming all electric passenger SUV, this specific battery pack represents the culmination of nearly a decade of local operations and engineering excellence.

Since entering the Indian market in 2017, Octillion has scaled aggressively. What began as a single plant dedicated to electric bus battery systems has transformed into a massive manufacturing footprint:

  • 3 Manufacturing Facilities: Spread across Pune, Maharashtra, and Gujarat.

  • 300,000+ Square Feet: Of high tech production and R&D space.

  • Carbon Neutral Vision: Octillion's Pune plant recently transitioned to 100% solar power, with a goal for all Indian facilities to be carbon neutral by 2027.

Powering Every Segment: From 2-Wheelers to Heavy Trucks

Octillion is not just a passenger car supplier. Their modular battery technology is currently powering a diverse range of vehicles across India, including:

  • Electric Buses & Trucks: Heavy duty systems designed for high durability.

  • Passenger SUVs: High density packs for long range consumer EVs.

  • 2 & 3 Wheelers: Scalable solutions for the last mile delivery boom.

"Reaching 100,000 units made in India is a testament to the trust our clients place in us to deliver safe, durable, and innovative batteries," said Paul Beach, Global President of Octillion.

The Road Ahead: 8 GWh Capacity by 2026

With the Indian EV market expected to grow exponentially, Octillion is not slowing down. The company is currently building out a third major facility in Halol, Gujarat, to support its ambitious growth targets. By 2026, Octillion expects its annual energy production capacity in India to reach 8 GWh.

This expansion is critical for reducing India's dependence on imported battery components and establishing a resilient, domestic supply chain for global OEMs.
