The Department of Customs of Nepal, on Friday, has disclosed that the country has recorded an unprecedented import of electric four-wheelers during the first 11 months of the FY24- 25.
By the middle of June, the total import was 13,483, with 10,194 of those coming from China, or about 76% of all imports, the department reported.
Meanwhile, 11,701 EVs were imported nationwide in 2023–2024.
In recent years, Nepal has been promoting EVs because of its abundant hydropower, particularly during the monsoon season. By 2030, the country wants to see 90% of all private passenger vehicles and 70% of all public passenger vehicles, including two-wheelers, be EVs.
