Nagpur Municipal Body, Reliance Set Up 3 EV Stations; 8 More to Go Live by December
Under a public-private partnership project, the Nagpur Municipal Corporation (NMC), with Reliance BP Mobility Ltd (Mumbai), has established three out of 11 proposed Ev charging stations, Times OF India reported. The complete 11 stations are expected to be set up within a 90-day deadline.
Citing additional municipal commissioner Vaishnavi B, TOI reported, "Work at Wadi Naka, Yashwant Stadium premises, and Rahate Colony is completed, while construction at the remaining eight sites is progressing rapidly."
As promised by municipal commissioner Abhijeet Chaudhari, the initiative, inaugurated in August with a bhoomi puja at Rahate Chowk as a component of NMC's larger strategy, will encourage environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation in the city.
The stations were supposed to be finished by early November, but there were delays because of the need to clear land, build basic infrastructure, and make sure there were enough power connections. The additional municipal commissioner now anticipates that after transformers are provided by the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL), all functionalities will be operational by December.
The charging stations are planned to be set up in key areas like Rahate Colony Square near PDKV premises, Police Motor Transport department on Katol Road, Jaitala Bazaar Square (Orange City Street), Futala near Police Chowki, Yashwant Stadium, Shanti Nagar Main Road near overhead tank, Central Bazaar Road opposite Tuli Imperial Hotel, Rudhwar Bazaar (Sakkardara), Wali Naka on Amravati Road, Dayanand Park (Jaripatka) and Anjuman College in Mangalwari Complex.
In addition to offering multi-vehicle charging options, each station will accommodate two-wheelers, three-wheelers, and four-wheel vehicles. At each of the 11 locations, NMC has given land to Reliance BP under the PPP concept. The civic body would receive rent in exchange, which would increase its non-tax revenue by almost Rs 1.3 lakh per month.
