Mid October EV 2 wheeler Sales Shocker: Bajaj Chetak Snatches #1 Spot from TVS; Ola Electric down to #5th

The highly competitive Electric Scooter Sales in India reached a fever pitch in the first half of October 2025, driven by the commencement of the crucial festive season. Mid-month sales data reveals a stunning twist at the top, confirming a direct slugfest between legacy players Bajaj Auto and TVS Motor Company for the #1 EV 2-Wheeler spot.

For the first two weeks of October (Oct 1-15), Bajaj—fueled by the Chetak electric scooter and recovering production capacity—has seized a marginal lead. Crucially, former market leader Ola Electric continues its worrying slide, falling to the 5th position, while Hero Vida surges ahead, consolidating its position in the top four.

Head-to-Head: The Bajaj Chetak vs. TVS iQube Supremacy Battle

The defining narrative of October 2025 EV 2-wheeler sales is the razor-thin margin separating the country’s two biggest legacy players. Bajaj Chetak (13,536 units) holds a slender lead of just 338 units over the TVS iQube (13,198 units).

This reflects the success of Bajaj’s strategic move to restore full production capacity and aggressively push the popular Chetak. TVS, which was the segment leader in September despite supply bottlenecks, is demonstrating remarkable brand loyalty. This close competition guarantees an intense battle in the coming weeks, as both companies deploy attractive Diwali EV offers to secure the month-end victory.

Hero Vida Gains Momentum, Capitalizing on Ola’s Slump

In a significant reshuffling of the mid-market, Hero Vida has successfully pulled ahead of Ola Electric to claim the 4th position with 7,790 units.

This rise is highly correlated with Hero MotoCorp’s strategic focus on addressing key consumer anxieties. The brand’s recent launch of comprehensive festive season offers includes attractive ownership benefits like assured buyback programs (up to 67.5% resale value after three years) and extended warranties (up to 5 years/75,000 km). These measures—along with the flexible Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) option—are key differentiators, effectively lowering the barrier to entry and building crucial consumer trust during high-volume purchase periods. The strong performance positions the Hero Vida V1 as a major challenger to the top three.

Ola Electric Sales Drop: A Service Infrastructure Crisis

The sharp downturn for Ola Electric is the most significant concern for the brand. With just 7,047 units, the company has fallen to 5th place, indicating that their Ola Electric sales drop is not an anomaly but a persistent trend.

As the EV market matures, buyers increasingly prioritize reliability and after-sales support. Ola’s continued inability to effectively resolve widespread service and infrastructure issues appears to be driving consumers toward competitors like Hero Vida and Ather, who have focused on reinforcing their physical and digital service networks.

Ather’s Premium Hold and Ampere’s Challenge

Ather Energy maintains a stable 3rd position with a robust 11,698 units, reinforcing its status as the leader in the premium electric scooter segment.

Meanwhile, Ampere (Greaves Electric Mobility) rounds out the top six with 3,123 units. Ampere continues to battle intense pressure, highlighting the struggle for smaller players to compete on scale with the giants of the Indian EV 2-Wheeler market. For Ampere, the task remains to push volume and market share against the overwhelming promotional efforts of the top four.
