MG Astor Hybrid teased in Spain: Launch in India?
MG Motor is all set to expand in India following the brand's latest collaboration with Jindal Steel Works (JSW). The company has two big releases in its pipeline of 2024 including the all-new Windsor EV and the facelifted Gloster, according to a report by Financial Express. Lately, the Chinese-owned British automaker is reported to be expanding its footprint in overseas markets.
The business recently teased the facelifted ZS in Spain. The tiny SUV, known as Astor in India, will be given a complete makeover shortly in Spain. The Spanish social media handle of MG Motor has hinted a modified version of the Astor. The Astor's version shown is expected to feature an electric drivetrain.
Welcome 2025 MG Astor: All you need to know
The new MG Astor, dubbed ZS HEV, will be equipped with a powerful hybrid drivetrain. The self-charging hybrid propulsion system (HEV) consists of an Atkinson cycle petrol engine and an electric motor powered by a 1.83 kWh NCM lithium-ion battery. The new ZS HEV, like all powerful hybrids, can operate only on electric power for short periods of time. The vehicle has a front-wheel-drive system with a unique 3-speed automatic gearbox.
Moreover, the MG3 hatchback also comes with the same setup. In addition to the new hybrid engine, MG claims to have fine-tuned the chassis. MG is anticipated to provide improvements that will make the hybrid type more operational, dependable, and safer than the current model.
The 2025 MG Astor also receives some stylistic changes over the current model in Spain. For starters, it receives an all-new blacked-out mesh grille in front, complemented by updated LED headlights that give the car a fresh look. Furthermore, the bumper is reprofiled to house additional air intakes. Its shape and side profile remain unaltered, but it receives new alloy wheels. The 2025 Astor's rear end has new taillights and a redesigned bumper.
2025 MG Astor facelift launch in India?
Since MG is unveiling the revised ZS in Spain soon, we may anticipate the Astor makeover to arrive in India in the next few months. However, there are no official updates yet and the particular timeline of the launch is not clear. The Astor debuted in India in late 2021 and is set for a mid-cycle redesign soon. Given the recent popularity and push for hybrid vehicles, the Astor Hybrid may be a worthwhile SUV to explore.
