Mercedes-Benz to launch EQS SUV and electric G-Wagon: Here is what to expect

Mercedes-Benz plans to launch a 5-seater variant of the EQS electric SUV called EQS 450 and a fully electric version of the G-Wagon on Jan.9, 2025.

As per the recent reports, the EQS 450 will be the company’s second offering in India after the EQS 580 4Matic SUV which is only available in a seven-seat configuration.

Sharing similarities with its seven-seater sibling, the upcoming electric car will come with the same 122 kWh battery pack. Currently, the vehicle claims the highest cell capacity for any passenger EV in India. The vehicle with its twin-motor set up will be able to produce 538 bhp and 858 Nm of peak torque. In addition, using a 200kW DC fast charger, users can charge their ride from 10 to 80 per cent in just 31 minutes.

Maintaining a known design, the base-level EQS SUV will come with LED headlamps connected by a light bar and a blanked-off grille. However, unlike the EQS 580 4Matic, the vehicle will feature a 21-inch alloy wheel.

In the biggest change, the new EV’s interior will come with a different configuration of seating allowing ample knee-room and legroom for rear-seat passengers. Furthermore, the vehicle is expected to cater for practicality by offering a larger boot.

Features like a 56-inch Hyperscreen setup, a 12.3-inch instrument cluster and a front passenger screen with a 17.7-inch central touchscreen infotainment, 360-degree camera, a 5-speaker Burmester audio system, twin 11.6-inch rear entertainment screens, 5-zone automatic climate control, and other features are probably going to stay the same as those of the EQS 580. In addition, the safety options will also include level 2 ADAS, nine airbags, and other safety measures.
