The much-awaited global debut of Mercedes-Benz's all-electric G-Class took place yesterday. The actual name of this electric SUV is the new G 580 with EQ Technology.&nbsp; The Mercedes-Benz G 580 EV has subtle visual changes to identify it as an electric vehicle, but it still has the recognisable boxy shape of its predecessor with an internal combustion engine. The external improvements include rear wheel arch air curtains, body-coloured headlamp surrounds, a roof-mounted spoiler, revised cladding on the A-pillar for better aerodynamics, and a closed-off grille with four slats (an illuminated EQ-style grille is optional). The G-Class sedan's cabin is the same as that of the petrol and diesel versions, and it has a plush interior with two 12.3-inch digital screens, an upgraded voice assistant, and optional packages for premium sound and rear-seat entertainment. The Mercedes-Benz G 580 EV is equipped with a quad-motor all-wheel-drive electric drivetrain, meaning that each wheel is powered by its own motor. With the help of a 116 kWh under-floor battery pack, this arrangement produces an amazing 579 horsepower and 1,164 Nm of torque. Mercedes promises a 473 km range on a single charge and a 4.7 second 0–100 kmph acceleration time, with a 180 kmph maximum speed. Fast charging up to 200 kW DC and up to 11 kW AC are supported by the car, allowing for a 10 to 80 per cent charge in around 32 minutes. The famed off-road capabilities of the G 580 are retained even with its electric drivetrain. It has a torque vectoring technology that replicates how internal combustion models' locking differentials work. When in the 'Rock' off-road driving mode, the SUV also has a 'low range' option for extremely difficult off-road conditions. The G 580 is notable for introducing G-Turn, which enables on-the-spot 360-degree tank manoeuvres, and G-Steering, which enhances manoeuvrability at low speeds. The G 580 EV has an 850 mm fording depth and a 26 mm thick, 57.6 kg skid plate to protect important parts during off-road excursions. With a side slope capacity of up to 35 degrees, the approach and departure angles are, respectively, 32 and 30.7 degrees. Later this year, the all-electric Mercedes-Benz G 580 is scheduled to go on sale in international countries, with ambitions to eventually make its way to India. JSW MG Motor India on Wednesday announced its partnership with Shell India to improve public charging infrastructure for electric vehicles across the nation. According to the collaboration JSW MG Motor India customers will be able to use Shell's extensive fuel station network across the nation to charge their vehicles. According to the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), Shell India will install CCS 50kW and 60kW DC fast chargers at various sites across India, reinforcing the EV charging network and allowing EV customers to travel long distances, JSW MG Motor said in a statement. "Our partnership with Shell India demonstrates our shared commitment to sustainable mobility and will help accelerate EV adoption across the country," citing Gaurav Gupta, Chief Growth Officer of JSW MG Motor India, Zee reported.&nbsp; The extension of infrastructure will make EV fast-charging more comfortable and accessible, allowing EV users to plan hassle-free long-distance trips, he noted. Ola Electric on Tuesday showed its intention to announce an initial public offering (IPO) to raise money for cell production, R&amp;D, and debt repayment, as the company prepares for a significant push into the electric vehicle (EV) industry.&nbsp; The IPO scheduled for August 2 is expected to raise Rs 5,500 crore in basic capital and an additional Rs 645.6 crore through an offer for sale (OFS) from existing investors. "We are raising capital for research and development as well as cell manufacturing," Ola Electric Mobility's Chief Financial Officer Harish Abichandani stated. "All of them are taken into account when calculating future cash flows. The road to profitability gets faster as we grow." Abichandani underlined that the firm has adequate funding for its planned capital expenditures related to the production of cells and vehicles. Citing the CEO of Ola Electric, Bhavish Aggarwal, Business Today reported, "We are focused on bringing EVs to the mass market and we do expect mass market products to penetrate deeper into the small towns and villages." Aggarwal highlights Ola Electric's robust Indian manufacturing foundation, noting that the firm's dedication to domestic production played a pivotal role in the choice to make an early public offering. "The company is young, and we wanted to bring this company to market early because of its Indian manufacturing story," the report further cited.

CHARGE ZONE and Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) on Wednesday announced a partnership to expand India's electric vehicle (EV) charging network. Reportedly, the update fits well with the Indian government's goal for the adoption of EVs. As per the agreement signed between the two companies, CHARGE ZONE will install DC 60 kW fast chargers in 100 Hyundai stores throughout the country. Mr Jae Wan Ryu from Hyundai and Mr Kartikey Hariyani from CHARGE ZONE signed the MoU at Hyundai’s headquarters in Gurugram. The all-new partnership is likely to increase the availability of public EV charging stations across India which will facilitate smooth movement within and between cities. Mr Ryu underlined that improving the network of EV charging stations is critical to lowering range anxiety and increasing EV adoption. He said, "The expanded network of DC fast charging stations, available through the "myHyundai" or "CHARGE ZONE" apps, will benefit all EV customers (Hyundai and Non-Hyundai). Such strategic partnerships are essential to meeting India's carbon neutrality targets and quickening the customer uptake of electric mobility solutions”.&nbsp; Users can find the new chargers with the ‘myHyundai’ app and the ‘CHARGE ZONE’ app. At the moment, Hyundai has 19 stores equipped with DC 60 kW rapid chargers. They intend to add 100 additional stations with round-the-clock customer service to their dealerships with this new cooperation. Installing DC 180 kW and DC 60 kW chargers throughout India is part of HMIL's larger EV strategy. Fast-charging stations are also being placed in strategic cities and roads. The "EV Charge" feature of the "myHyundai" app will integrate both Hyundai and third-party chargers and let users locate charging stations, schedule times, and make payments.
