Mercedes-Benz CLA EV India Launch Confirmed for April 2026: Offers Massive 792 KM Range

Mercedes-Benz India is set to disrupt the luxury electric vehicle market once again. The German automaker has officially confirmed that the all new Mercedes-Benz CLA EV will make its India debut in April 2026.

As a spiritual and electrified successor to the popular CLA coupe and the A Class sedan, the CLA EV represents a massive leap in battery technology and efficiency for the brand in India.

Mercedes-Benz CLA EV Range and Battery Performance

The headline grabbing feature of the Mercedes-Benz CLA EV is its incredible efficiency. Built on the new Mercedes-Benz Modular Architecture (MMA), the sedan is designed to lead the segment in long distance travel.

  • Maximum Range: Up to 792 km (WLTP) on a single charge.

  • Battery Capacity: 85 kWh Lithium-ion pack.

  • Fast Charging: Thanks to its 800 volt electrical architecture, the car supports DC fast charging up to 320kW, allowing for a 10% to 80% charge in just minutes.

Variants and Power Output

While international markets get multiple trims, India is expected to initially receive the high efficiency CLA 250+ variant.

  • CLA 250+ (RWD): Features a rear mounted motor delivering 268 hp and 335 Nm of torque.

  • CLA 350 4MATIC (AWD): A dual motor version producing 349 hp and 515 Nm, which may arrive at a later date.

Futuristic Design and "Hyper" Interior

The CLA EV maintains the sleek, "four door coupe" silhouette that made the original CLA a hit, but adds futuristic EV elements:

  • Exterior: Features a blanked off grille with an illuminated "Tristar" pattern, connected LED light strips, and flush fitting door handles for better aerodynamics.

  • The "Frunk": In a first for Mercedes-Benz, the CLA EV features a 101 litre front trunk (frunk), adding significant practical storage space.

  • Interior Tech: The cabin is expected to feature the MBUX Superscreen a massive triple display setup stretching across the dashboard along with Level 2 ADAS and sustainable luxury materials.

Expected Price and Competition

The Mercedes-Benz CLA EV price in India is expected to start around ₹60 lakh to ₹70 lakh (ex-showroom).

Upon its launch in April 2026, it will face off against the BYD Seal, Kia EV6, and the Volvo Recharge lineup. It will also serve as a more premium alternative to the upcoming Tesla Model 3 in India.
