Lexus ES 500e Launched in India at ₹89.99 Lakh: The First All-Electric Lexus Arrives with 580km Range

Lexus India has officially entered the luxury electric vehicle (EV) segment with the blockbuster launch of the all new eighth generation Lexus ES. Marking a historic shift for the brand, the sedan debuts in its fully electric avatar, the Lexus ES 500e, priced at ₹89.99 lakh (ex showroom, introductory).

While the Lexus ES has long been a favorite in the executive hybrid space, this new generation evolves the nameplate into a tech forward, zero emission powerhouse designed specifically to challenge the dominance of German rivals.

The "Spindle Body" Evolution: Design and Dimensions

The 2026 Lexus ES sheds its traditional spindle grille for a more integrated "Spindle Body" aesthetic, inspired by the LF-ZC concept.

• Exterior: The front fascia features a "sharknose" design with sharp, Z-shaped LED DRLs. The side profile is more aerodynamic with flush-fitting door handles and a sloping, coupe like roofline.

• Dimensions: The new ES is significantly larger than its predecessor. It is 165mm longer and 55mm wider, with a wheelbase stretched by 80mm (2,950mm).

• India-Specific Tuning: In a move to please local buyers, Lexus has increased the ground clearance by 20mm, bringing it to 158mm to better navigate Indian speed breakers and monsoon hit roads.

Performance: Dual-Motor AWD Power

Under the hood or rather, under the floor lies a 75 kWh battery pack paired with a sophisticated dual motor All Wheel Drive (AWD) system.

A "Clean Tech" Sanctuary: Interior & Features

Inside, Lexus has embraced a minimalist philosophy. The dashboard is dominated by a massive 14 inch freestanding touchscreen that houses almost all vehicle controls, reducing physical clutter.

• Tech Suite: A 12.3 inch digital instrument cluster, a high res Head Up Display (HUD), and a 17 speaker Mark Levinson premium surround sound system.

• Luxury Touches: An electrochromic panoramic glass roof that can turn opaque at the touch of a button, and the famous "Rear Boss Mode" with reclining seats and ottoman functions.

• Safety: The Lexus Safety System+ (Level 2 ADAS) comes standard, featuring adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, and 10 airbags.

Market Competition and Availability

The Lexus ES 500e enters a heated segment, directly competing with the BMW i5, Mercedes-Benz EQE, and the Audi A6 e-tron.

While the electric 500e is the flagship for now, Lexus has confirmed that a petrol-hybrid variant (ES 350h) will join the lineup later this year for those not yet ready to make the full electric switch. Bookings are now open across all Lexus Guest Experience Centers (GECs) in India.
