Kolkata Police Inducts 183 Ultraviolette X-47 Skyforce Electric Motorcycles into Patrol Fleet

In one of India’s largest electric two-wheeler inductions by a law enforcement agency, Kolkata Police has officially added 183 units of the Ultraviolette X-47 Skyforce to its patrol fleet. The official handover ceremony took place at the Lalbazar Police Headquarters in Kolkata, marking a major milestone in the police force's shift toward sustainable, high-performance urban mobility.

Purpose-Built Tactical Patrol Bike

The X-47 Skyforce is a specialized patrol variant derived from Ultraviolette's X-47 Crossover platform. Unlike standard consumer models, the Skyforce features an updated electronic architecture designed specifically to integrate law enforcement hardware and tactical gear:

• Emergency Signaling: Integrated hooters, high-decibel sirens, and red-and-blue LED blinkers.
• Communication Equipment: Dedicated mountings for walkie-talkies and microphones, alongside a Public Address (PA) system.
• Storage & Aesthetics: Custom side panniers for duty gear, wrapped in a white police livery with official Kolkata Police branding.

Economic & Environmental Impact

Speaking on the deployment, Narayan Subramaniam, CEO and Co-Founder of Ultraviolette, highlighted that the induction reflects a move toward long-term operational efficiency.

Replacing traditional Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) petrol motorcycles with electric powertrains drastically reduces fuel and routine maintenance costs for the department. Additionally, zero tailpipe emissions align Kolkata Police with broader clean-energy urban transit initiatives across India.
