Kia reveals EV4 hatchback and electric sedan design ahead of vehicle launch

Kia, a South Korean automaker, has revealed the exteriors of the company’s upcoming EV–the EV4. The electric car will come in hatchback as well as SUV variant and is scheduled to make its debut at the EV Day event in Tarragona, Spain.

With its so-called "EV Tiger Face" design, which was first seen on the larger EV9 in 2023 and then on the EV3 and EV5, the EV4 design seems to closely resemble the idea that was shown in late 2023.

Together with the brand's Star Map lightning trademark and vertically orientated headlamps, this "Tiger Face" set of LED lights is intended to highlight the car's "wide, sporty stance while underlining its refined, cutting-edge character."

Although there aren't many details revealed in the official press release that goes with the six exterior photos, the document talks about Kia's "Opposites United" design philosophy. Further, it also describes the vehicle's looks as " harmony achieved through contrasts" and "demonstrates Kia's vision for the next generation of electric sedans through its innovative silhouette, presenting a new typology in a uniform EV market," the Driven reported.

The company claims that because every aspect of the new EV4's design is "a forward-thinking character, embodying a sense of freedom and exploration that resonates with drivers seeking innovation and versatility," the vehicle will be "equally at home on urban streets or continent-crossing adventures," the reporter added.

However, what is visible in the pictures is a vehicle that is remarkably contoured and combines the popular geometric design features found in contemporary cars with a slippery smoothness.

The EV4's front half features the streamlined and sleek look that was promised, along with a low hood line that extends to the rear of the vehicle.

Despite the front's exquisite lines and workmanship being compelling, the transition to the back, which flows into a drop-away, sloping fastback boot may be viewed as a little startling and is something which may receive divided opinions, the driven reported.

The EV4 hatchback, on the other hand, looks exactly like you would want it to, though that might be a subjective drawback for some people who prefer a more expressive deviation from the norm. The GT-Line's "futuristic" and "sporty" feel is enhanced by triangular-motif 19-inch wheels and wing-shaped front and rear bumpers.
