Kia launches its mid-size electric car PV5

Under its Platform Beyond Vehicle (PBV) strategy, Kia has revealed its first electric car, the PV5, at the 2025 Kia EV Day, Tarragona, Spain. The PV5 is a mid-sized car-derived van (CDV) that redefines flexibility, space and functionality.

In the second half of 2025, the Kia PV5 will make its debut in Korea and Europe, following its debut in other markets in 2026. It is anticipated that pre-orders would start in the first half of 2025. Between 2025 and 2026, conversion models will go into production one after the other.

Kia's E-GMP.S platform, a specialized battery-electric skateboard architecture that enables modular body variations, serves as the foundation for the PV5. Due to its adaptability, the PV5 can be used for a variety of purposes, including freight delivery, passenger transportation, and specialized customizations. The PV5 is versatile and comes in three main body styles: passenger, cargo, and chassis cab.

The PV5 is equipped with 2 choices of NCM battery–51.5kWh or 71.2kWh. Meanwhile, the cargo variant comes with a 43.3kWh LFP battery option, a 120kW front motor and 250Nm of torque. Moreover, the PV5 provides a range of up to 400km with a fast-charging option to juice up your ride from 10-80% in 30 minutes.

Additionally, the PV5 also features an infotainment system based on Android Automotive OS, which allows for over-the-air (OTA) updates.

By enabling customers to power external equipment directly from the car, Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) capabilities further increases the vehicle's practicality.
