JSW MG Motor India has reported having sold more than 1 lakh electric cars in the nation since the rollout of its first electric car, ZS EV, in 2020.

With the update, MG has become the second company to achieve this milestone, following Tata Motors, which celebrated its 2lakh EV sales milestone in February, earlier this year.

Now, MG’s 70% of overall monthly sales comes from electric cars. As the company holds 35 per cent market share in India, the figures are likely to grow.

The ZS EV marked the start of MG Motor India's EV journey in January 2020. The much smaller Comet EV followed the e-SUV in April 2023, but MG's EV sales didn't start to really increase until the September 2024 launch of the Windsor. In May 2025, the company launches the Windsor Pro, a longer-range variant of this Tata Nexon EV competitor.

Furthermore, MG has revealed that electric vehicles currently make up more than 70% of monthly volumes, surpassing the goal of having EVs make up 70–80% of its sales. In fact, according to MG, its market share in India's EV market increased from 26% at the end of 2024 to 35% now. MG shipped 26,640 EVs between April and September 2025, marking a 220 per cent increase over the same period the year before.

The company intends to foray into the premium segment with the launch of its M9 MPV and Cyberster roadster later this year. As per reports, the scheduled-to-launch cars are expected to increase the company’s sales and will portray MG as a premium brand.
