JSW MG Motor India Achieves 1,000 Community EV Chargers and 290 Crore Green Kilometers Milestone

Marking the occasion of World Environment Day, JSW MG Motor India has announced a series of major milestones reflecting its aggressive expansion in the Indian electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem. The automaker confirmed the successful installation of 1,000 community EV chargers nationwide under its 'MG Charge' initiative, alongside significant achievements in green manufacturing and upcoming product strategies.

Pioneering Community EV Charging Infrastructure

In a major push for domestic EV adoption, JSW MG Motor India has become the first OEM to deploy community charging infrastructure at this scale. The 1,000 EV chargers are spread across more than 470 diverse sites throughout the country.

To maximize accessibility, these installations have been strategically placed in high-dwell-time locations, including residential societies, condominiums, hospitals, university campuses, hotels, and industrial parks.

290 Crore Green Kilometers and Emission Savings

Beyond infrastructure, the company reported substantial on-road environmental impact. JSW MG electric vehicles currently on Indian roads have cumulatively covered over 290 Crore green kilometers. According to the brand's data, this distance is equivalent to saving a massive 4.17 lakh metric tons of CO₂ emissions.

Aggressive Product Roadmap for CY2026

Looking ahead, JSW MG Motor India is gearing up for a significant product onslaught. The automaker has confirmed that three New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) are slated for launch in CY2026. Emphasizing that India’s sustainability journey will require a multi-technology approach, the company also revealed that this upcoming lineup will include the introduction of plug-in hybrid technology.

Industry 4.0 and Green Manufacturing at Halol

Aligned with the Government of India’s sustainability vision, JSW MG Motor India is heavily decarbonizing its production operations at the Halol manufacturing plant in Gujarat. The facility now meets nearly 95% of its total power requirements through renewable energy, resulting in the reduction of over 9,300 metric tons of carbon emissions.

By integrating Industry 4.0 digitization and IoT solutions, the automaker has optimized its energy efficiency and reduced water consumption by 23%.

Key sustainability highlights from the Halol facility include

  • Zero External Discharge : The plant utilizes 100% treated and recycled water.

  • Zero Waste to Landfill : Achieved Gold Maturity certification.

  • Clean Energy : Utilization of cleaner fuel (PNG) across all manufacturing processes.

  • Ecological Development : The site features a Miyawaki Forest with 5,700 plants, an additional 11,000 trees planted, and 21 active recharge wells.

  • Waste Management : Equipped with an onsite bio-compost machine and a biogas plant for canteen and garden waste.
