India’s EV Car Market Hits Record 15,295 Sales in July 2025; MG Windsor Dominates, Tata Leads Volume Game
India’s electric passenger vehicle (EV) market hit a historic milestone in July 2025 with 15,295 EVs registered, marking 91% YoY growth and a 10% MoM jump. EV penetration reached 4.6%, edging closer to the 5% benchmark, driven by rising model availability, improving charging infrastructure, and strong consumer confidence.
Tata Motors Retains Leadership, Powered by Punch, Nexon & Harrier EV
Tata Motors continued to lead the market with 5,972 units (39% share). The Punch EV and Nexon EV remained strong sellers, while the newly launched Harrier EV boosted Tata’s presence in the premium EV segment.
FY26 EV sales: 20,232 units.
Market share: 36.2% (down from 64.7% YoY due to rising competition)
MG Windsor Reigns as India’s Best-Selling EV
JSW MG Motor India delivered 5,013 units (33% share), with the MG Windsor and Windsor Pro continuing as India’s No.1 EV for 9 of the last 12 months.
