IIT-M startup receives ARAI certification for fast EV charger for heavy vehicles
Plugzmart, an Indian Institute of Technology-Madras (IIT-M) startup, has received its certification from the Automative Research Association of India, a research body of the Ministry of Heavy Industries, for its fast EV charger for heavy vehicles. It has to be noted that with the update, the company has become the first start-up in India to receive such certification
The indigenous EV charger gets its own PLC modules and controller that were manufactured in India. The 240kW DC fast charger's hardware and software were manufactured internally. It ensures great efficiency, dependability, and compliance with Indian and international safety requirements by charging big vehicles and luxury cars in 20 minutes. An intelligent power distribution system avoids grid overload and maximizes energy use.
Citing Vivek Samynathan, founder and chief executive officer of Plugzmart, The Hindu reported, “Our indigenous controller and PLC modules can play a key role in reducing the country’s imports in the EV sector.”
The charger has optimization powered by artificial intelligence that will anticipate and stop charger failure and guarantee a high uptime. It is perfect for areas with high demand because it can accommodate several vehicles at once. The larger electric vehicle ecosystem, which is expanding quickly in India, includes the EV charging industry. The need for effective and easily accessible EV charging infrastructure is growing as India pushes for more environmentally friendly energy and transportation options.
