Flipkart deploys more than 10,000 EVs in its delivery fleet

The strategic inclusion of EVs in the company’s fleet has resulted in increased operational efficiency by lowering the cost per order and improving the speed of last-mile delivery by 20 per cent.

Flipkart deploys more than 10,000 EVs in its delivery fleet

Flipkart, an e-commerce firm has achieved a deployment of more than 10,000 EVs in its fleet as an initiative under its integration of electric vehicles (EVs) in last-mile delivery.


As part of the Climate Group's EV100 project, the company announced that it will transition to a completely electric logistics last-mile fleet by 2030.


At present, Flipkart’s 75 per cent electric fleet is situated in Tier-I cities, including Delhi, Hyderabad, Bangalore, and Chennai. Earlier in August, the company announced to achieved 55 per cent of its grocery delivery by EVs


Furthermore, during this year's holiday season, it used its EV fleet to fulfil more than 16% of grocery deliveries to Tier-2+ cities including Lucknow, Sonipat, Ludhiana, Bhubaneswar, Malda, Hubli, and Vizag.


The strategic inclusion of EVs in the company’s fleet has resulted in increased operational efficiency by lowering the cost per order and improving the speed of last-mile delivery by 20 per cent. 

 

"By combining our expanded EV fleet with critical investments in charging infrastructure, we are not only driving operational excellence, but also setting a standard for sustainable practices in the industry at large," said Hemant Badri, SVP, group head of Supply Chain, Customer Experience, and Re-commerce Business at Flipkart Group.
