Exponent Energy Secures ₹200 Crore to Scale 15-Minute Rapid EV Charging Network

In a major boost to India’s electric vehicle commercial ecosystem, homegrown rapid charging startup Exponent Energy has successfully closed a ₹200 crore ($21.1 million) funding round. The investment will serve as a catalyst to accelerate its research and development pipeline and scale up its network footprint across the country.

The fresh financing round was co-led by 360 ONE Asset, making its maiden entry into the Indian EV ecosystem, alongside TDK Ventures. The round also witnessed participation from Hitachi Ventures, marking its first ever investment in the Indian energy tech space, alongside strong continuous support from existing marquee institutional backers including Lightspeed, Eight Roads Ventures, 3one4 Capital, AdvantEdge VC, and YourNest.

Scaling Up the 15-Minute EV Charging Infrastructure

With this fresh infusion of capital, Exponent Energy’s cumulative funding since its inception six years ago scales to an impressive $65.7 million. The Bengaluru headquartered startup intends to aggressively deploy these resources to solve the core bottlenecks plaguing large scale commercial fleet electrification in India namely charging anxiety and downtime.

The company plans to utilize the capital to achieve three primary strategic objectives:

  • Intensified R&D: Advanced engineering targeting improved efficiency and longevity in battery pack management and heat dissipation technologies.

  • Geographic Footprint Expansion: Rapid infrastructure deployment across new tier-1 and tier-2 logistics hubs to support urban delivery networks.

  • Multi-Segment Vehicle Integration: Transitioning its proprietary 15-minute fast charging technology from its current stronghold in electric three wheelers and mini trucks into heavier commercial vehicle formats.

Driving Commercial Fleet Electrification

What differentiates Exponent Energy in a highly competitive EV charging startup landscape is its holistic ecosystem approach. Instead of functioning purely as a charge point operator (CPO), Exponent builds the full proprietary stack: the "e-pack" (the vehicle battery pack) and the "e-pump" (the charging station). By managing the thermal management dynamics on both sides of the plug, the platform successfully delivers a 0-to-100% charge in exactly 15 minutes while offering an industry leading 3,000-cycle warranty even under persistent rapid charging.

The entry of top tier global venture arms like TDK Ventures and Hitachi Ventures, alongside major domestic capital managers like 360 ONE Asset, underscores a maturing investment thesis surrounding Indian EV charging infrastructure. As state mandates and corporate environmental goals push final mile delivery fleets to go green, rapid charging platforms are quickly pivoting from a premium utility to non-negotiable highway and urban logistics architecture.
