In fact, according to a report by nrdc.org, the USA has already surpassed China as the most favourable country for EV investments. Now, with the tariff hanging over, it will be interesting to note the reactions of the worldwide EV companies.&nbsp; The effect&nbsp; According to research by economists at the Peterson Institute of International Economics, Trump's policies might wind up costing the average American household more than $2,600 a year. Nonetheless, it seems that both Republicans and Democrats support the concept of increasing tariffs.&nbsp; Free market analysts and advocates of globalisation have shown serious concern over Trump’s decision, as the tariff wars between countries may come at a cost of inflation and global slowdown. Hence, it can be said that after the tariffs, the global EV industry may be affected by at least $19 billion. Moreover, the raw material imported from other countries to manufacture EVs may also add to the losses, taking the number to another higher value.&nbsp; Impact on India&nbsp; India is an import-oriented country whose overall trade remains in deficit, however, India has a trade surplus with the USA. That said, if the inflation in the US market rises, the demand in the market will reduce, ultimately leading to a loss of a considerable amount of India’s foreign exchange. It is also interesting to note that in Trump 1.0, India has already lost its Generalised System of Preference (GSP) status which obliged a developed nation to buy certain products from a developing country. However, as per SBI, there has been a significant rise in the trade of India with the USA despite revoking the GSP status which is a good sign for the overall Indian market.&nbsp; With bilateral trade over $120 billion in FY24, the US continues to be India's largest trading partner, marginally surpassing India's trade with China. India's dependence on the US market has increased over the last ten years; currently, 18% of India's exports go to the US, up from 10% in 2010–11. India exports a wide range of products to the US, including engineering equipment, electronics, and textiles. The EV companies planning to launch themselves in the US market might have to change their plans. Launched with the tag “the power of more”, Ampere Magnus Neo comes at a starting price of INR 79,999 (ex-showroom) with financing options starting at 5.75% interest per annum. The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 is all set to begin on January 17 in Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi. The event will stage the head-to-head competitive launch of electric SUVs — the Maruti Suzuki e-Vitara and the Hyundai Creta Electric. The Creta Electric will be the Hyundai's first mass-market EV in India while Maruti Suzuki will make its debut in the Indian EV market with the e-Vitara. The premiere of these two electric SUVs at the event has been confirmed by both automakers. Hyundai has revealed that there will be two battery pack options available for the Creta Electric: a 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh model. The 51.4 kWh battery has a range of 473 km, while the 42 kWh battery has a range of 390 km, according to ARAI. The Crerta Electric will come in five versions including Executive, Smart, Smart (O), Premium, and Excellence.&nbsp;According to Hyundai, the vehicle takes just 7.9 seconds for the 51.4 kWh model to accelerate from 0 to 10 kmph. In terms of charging, the Creta EV, while using a DC fast charger, can get charged from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in only 58 minutes. Meanwhile, using an 11 kW AC home charger can charge the vehicle from 10 per cent to 100 per cent in 4 hours. The e-Vitara will have three powertrain options: a 49 kWh, 61 kWh front-wheel-drive (2WD), and 61 kWh four-wheel-drive (4WD), according to information Suzuki has disclosed for the global market. The 49 kWh version generates 142 horsepower, and the 61 kWh 2WD and 49 kWh versions both provide 189 Nm of torque. With 172 horsepower from the front motor and 64 horsepower from the rear motor, the 61 kWh 4WD variant produces 181 horsepower and 300 Nm of torque overall. Hyundai has announced that the Creta Electric's infotainment system and instrument dashboard will both have 10.25-inch dual displays. It is anticipated that the e Vitara would receive a comparable setup. functions of the Creta Electric include a dual-zone automatic temperature control system, a cooled glove box, a front armrest with cool storage space, a panoramic sunroof, 286 voice commands, a vehicle-to-load system that allows you to charge electronics and even household appliances, and more than 70 linked functions. Honda has announced its intention to manufacture solid-state batteries for electric vehicles(EVs) that can double the range of EVs currently available in the market. The new technology can provide a range of up to 620 miles(1,000 kilometres) on a single charge, according to the company. If achieved, the new technology can solve the “range anxiety,” a major hurdle in EV adoption.&nbsp;&nbsp; Honda announced a demonstration production line in November for its future solid-state batteries, which the Japanese manufacturer intends to incorporate into its EVs on a mass market basis in the second half of the decade. President and representative director of Honda R&amp;D, Keiji Otsu, said in a statement, "The all-solid-state battery is an innovative technology that will be a game changer in this EV era. Replacing engines that have been supporting the advancements of automobiles to date, batteries will be the key factor of electrification," Live Science reported. Compared to the liquid lithium-ion batteries featured in modern EVs, these solid-state batteries are anticipated to be 25% less expensive to build, 50% smaller, and 35% lighter. However, Honda's solid-state cells are too small to be utilised in any of the company's current vehicle models, which is the main obstacle to the technology. Beginning in 2025, the new facility aims to address that issue.

The all-new lithium metal battery uses a triple-layer solid polymer electrolyte to provide extra protection against fire. However, it is yet to be clarified when this technology will get into commercial space. In the field of EV battery technology, the DGIST's lithium battery for electric vehicles may transition the existing Industry into a new age. In conventional solid polymer electrolyte battery packs, lithium-ion creates tiny tree-like structures called dendrites when the battery is being charged and discharged. These dendrites can weaken a battery's internal connections, greatly raising the possibility of explosions and fires. For lithium battery packs to reach their full potential, this risk factor has proven crucial. The innovative triple-layer electrolyte engineering of the new battery is intended to improve performance and structural and thermal safety, according to DGIST. This battery features a solid central layer that enhances the battery's structural integrity and guards against thermal issues like fire, while the soft outside layers guarantee optimal contact with the electrodes. Decabromodiphenyl ethane, a fire suppressant, is present in high concentrations together with zeolite and lithium salt. The total strength of the battery pack is said to be strengthened by this. Additionally, the DGIST asserts that this battery pack retains a sizable amount of power even after numerous charging cycles, in addition to improving fire safety. The battery is said to retrain 87.9% of its power after 1,000 cycles of charging and draining. The majority of the batteries used in the current generation of EVs lose 20–30% of their capacity during the same number of charging cycles, therefore this is yet another major advancement in battery technology.

A 6.4 kW Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor (PMSM) powers the Ferrato Disruptor, producing a nominal torque of 45 Nm and a maximum torque output of 228 Nm. According to the company, this motorcycle's maximum speed will be 95 kmph.

The company has reported to start accepting pre-booking of their electric two-wheelers for a token amount of Rs1000.&nbsp; With the launch of the e-two-wheelers, Honda will be able to suit distinct market segments. The Activa e: is essentially a modified CUV e: scooter that is offered for sale in Europe. It is powered by a pair of 1.5kWh detachable battery packs that have an IDC range of 102km. The caveat is that these can only be recharged at Honda's battery switching stations, which are currently in the early stages of development.&nbsp; Meanwhile, the QC1 has a relatively low stated top speed of 50 kph and is powered by a single 1.5kWh battery pack that generates 1.8kW via a hub-mounted motor. In contrast to the Activa e's nonexistent boot, the QC1 boasts a 26-liter capacity and a claimed IDC range of 80 km.&nbsp;&nbsp; Although the two scooters share a similar appearance and even colour scheme, the Activa e has a more upscale fit and finish than the QC1. Delivery of both should begin in February, and prices should be released later this month.

Manish Sisodia and Delhi Chief Minister Atishi on Wednesday opened 25 low-cost EV charging stations at Mayur Vihar Phase-1, citing officials Zee Business reported.&nbsp; The update is reported to be a part of the broader strategy of the Delhi government to promote the use of electric vehicles (EVs) against rising pollution. In addition, the step seeks to reinstate the city as India’s EV capital, the report added.&nbsp; Speaking at the event, Atishi emphasised the Delhi government's commitment to fostering a sustainable future through a robust EV infrastructure. Meanwhile, speaking at the inaugural, Atihsi underlined the commitment of the Delhi government to establish a robust EV infrastructure for a sustainable future.&nbsp; "Delhi now boasts of more than 2,400 EV charging points, offering the lowest rates in the country. It is the reason why 12 per cent of all new vehicles registered in Delhi are electric," citing Zee Business reported. The report further mentions that Delhi holds the world’s second rank in having the largest electric bus fleet. According to the official statement, there are now overall 78 government-operated charging stations, including the additional ones run by Delhi Transco Limited. Every station has a number of charging stations that are intended to provide affordability and accessibility for EV users throughout the city, the statement added. Appreciating the move, Sisodia said, "These charging stations are the power banks of a modern Delhi. Despite challenges, we have achieved 12 per cent EV adoption among new vehicle registrations, laying the foundation for a cleaner, healthier future," ZeeBusiness Reported.&nbsp;

India will provide sufficient charging infrastructure to encourage the widespread adoption of electric vehicles (EVs), Union Heavy Industries Minister H D Kumaraswamy said on Wednesday. The minister stated that the Ministry of Heavy Industries would soon issue e-vouchers for electric vehicle (EV) customers to take advantage of incentives under the recently authorised PM E-DRIVE (PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement) program. According to a report by ANI, While speaking in the seminar on FAME's Success in Transforming India's EV Landscape organised by FICCI and the Ministry of Heavy Industries, the Minister underlined that the government is raming up the charging infrastructure fastly.&nbsp; He stated that the government intends to deploy 10,763 public charging stations nationwide as part of the FAME-II initiative. The use of e-vouchers marks a significant shift in the government's strategy to encourage EV use. "This is a unique new feature of this new scheme," Kumaraswamy stated. He continued, "The modalities of this are in an advanced stage and will be shared with you soon," the ANI report further stated.&nbsp; The PM E-DRIVE initiative, which was launched by the Union Cabinet last week, intends to accelerate EV adoption by providing significant upfront incentives and developing critical charging infrastructure. The new PM E-DRIVE scheme includes several novel elements, such as a dedicated fund of&nbsp;Rs 500 crore to encourage the adoption of electric trucks, an allocation of Rs 500 crore to deploy e-ambulances, and Rs 2,000 crore to install 22,000 fast chargers for electric four-wheelers, 1,800 for e-buses, and 48,400 for e-two and three-wheelers. Regarding the performance of FAME II, Kumaraswamy stated that around 92% of the Rs 11,500 crore allotted under the initiative has been used. The project has also made substantial progress in public transport, with 4,853 e-buses delivered out of a total of 6,862 sanctioned for intra-city operations as of July 31, 2024.

Reportedly, the EV testing facility will be set up at the National Test House (NTH), located on the RRSL Jakkuru campus in Bangalore. Meanwhile, Pralhad Venkatesh Joshi, Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, is expected to put the founding stone for the EV testing facility on Thursday. The NTH, which is part of the Department of Consumer Affairs, is a premier scientific organisation that focuses on testing and quality assurance in a variety of industries. The state-of-the-art laboratory will be capable of performing a variety of tests, including "electrical safety, FCC/ISED compliance, EMC/EMF, functional safety, climate resistance (IP tests, UV radiation, corrosion),&nbsp; durability (life cycle) and mechanical and material testing (flammability, glow wire)," according to the ministry. The update represents a significant step towards building India's EV infrastructure, which aligns with the country's commitment to sustainable and green energy solutions. The lab will also function as a complete testing facility for battery efficiency, safety regulations, and performance measures, ensuring that cars fulfil high-quality criteria before reaching customers. Meanwhile, the number of public battery electric vehicle (BEV) charging stations in India has considerably risen from 1,800 in February 2022 to 16,347 in March this year, representing over a nine-fold increase, according to recent research by global consultancy company Forvis Mazars. According to a report by India TV, the cutting-edge facility is intended to play a critical role in assisting the rapidly growing EV sector by offering comprehensive testing services to assure the safety and efficiency of EV batteries and chargers. The report further claims that the facility will help India achieve its larger goals of environmental sustainability and reduce dependency on fossil fuels by improving quality control and encouraging innovation in automotive technology. Furthermore, the development of this new facility demonstrates the government's commitment to accelerating the transition to electric mobility in India, particularly in developing industries such as EV battery and charger testing, which are important to the industry's long-term growth.

The policy also mentions that a five-year period of 15% customs duty would be applicable. In the meanwhile, Tata Motors said that its net profit increased from 72.43% to ₹5,692 crore in the first quarter of FY25, compared to ₹3,301 crore in the same period last year. Moreover, the company's quarterly operating revenue increased 13% to ₹1.08 lakh crore compared to Rs 1.02 lakh crore during the same time in the previous year. Regarding JLR, the firm had a 31% year-over-year increase in sales, with 1,371 units sold in Q1. Balaji states that the business expects some production constraints as a result of the UK factory closure and the problems with the supply chain for aluminium. By FY28, the business plans to invest ₹1.9 trillion in its JLR portfolio.&nbsp;

The much-awaited global debut of Mercedes-Benz's all-electric G-Class took place yesterday. The actual name of this electric SUV is the new G 580 with EQ Technology.&nbsp; The Mercedes-Benz G 580 EV has subtle visual changes to identify it as an electric vehicle, but it still has the recognisable boxy shape of its predecessor with an internal combustion engine. The external improvements include rear wheel arch air curtains, body-coloured headlamp surrounds, a roof-mounted spoiler, revised cladding on the A-pillar for better aerodynamics, and a closed-off grille with four slats (an illuminated EQ-style grille is optional). The G-Class sedan's cabin is the same as that of the petrol and diesel versions, and it has a plush interior with two 12.3-inch digital screens, an upgraded voice assistant, and optional packages for premium sound and rear-seat entertainment. The Mercedes-Benz G 580 EV is equipped with a quad-motor all-wheel-drive electric drivetrain, meaning that each wheel is powered by its own motor. With the help of a 116 kWh under-floor battery pack, this arrangement produces an amazing 579 horsepower and 1,164 Nm of torque. Mercedes promises a 473 km range on a single charge and a 4.7 second 0–100 kmph acceleration time, with a 180 kmph maximum speed. Fast charging up to 200 kW DC and up to 11 kW AC are supported by the car, allowing for a 10 to 80 per cent charge in around 32 minutes. The famed off-road capabilities of the G 580 are retained even with its electric drivetrain. It has a torque vectoring technology that replicates how internal combustion models' locking differentials work. When in the 'Rock' off-road driving mode, the SUV also has a 'low range' option for extremely difficult off-road conditions. The G 580 is notable for introducing G-Turn, which enables on-the-spot 360-degree tank manoeuvres, and G-Steering, which enhances manoeuvrability at low speeds. The G 580 EV has an 850 mm fording depth and a 26 mm thick, 57.6 kg skid plate to protect important parts during off-road excursions. With a side slope capacity of up to 35 degrees, the approach and departure angles are, respectively, 32 and 30.7 degrees. Later this year, the all-electric Mercedes-Benz G 580 is scheduled to go on sale in international countries, with ambitions to eventually make its way to India. Combining the distinctive G-Class design with an advanced electric drivetrain and off-road capabilities, this vehicle marks a substantial advancement in electric SUV technology and is an appealing choice for both eco-conscious drivers and enthusiasts.

A massive 212 kilowatt-hour (205 kWh usable) double-stacked Ultium battery pack, three electric motors with a combined output of 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque, and the same chassis and EV propulsion system as the Hummer EV are hidden beneath all the military green paint. According to a GM Defence spokeswoman quoted by Breaking Defence, the electric troop carrier has a 12-kW diesel generator for quick charging and can go up to 300 miles on a single charge. It is quite doubtful that the EMCV will enter the civilian market, as the original Humvee did in the early 1990s, due in part to none other than Arnold Schwarzenegger, given there is already the GMC Hummer EV that is available for retail sale. Nevertheless, it will be fascinating to observe how the EV technology designed for civilian use would do in the Army. The appearance of the <a href="https://evindia.online/company/mg-motor-india-private-limited" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: transparent;">MG</a> Comet EV is elegant and cutting-edge. It has split headlamps. Turn signals, LED DRLs, and a tiny LED light beam encased in the front chrome bar make up the remaining lighting setup. The bar moves up onto both Outside rear-view mirrors (OVRMs). The rear lights use the same design motif as the front ones, with a stop lamp beam that extends over the back and a 2-row split tail lamp. There is a charging port located underneath the MG logo on the front. Wuling Air EV battery options are predicted for the Comet. A 17.3kWh battery powers it. The larger unit is a 26.7kWh one. The distance that can be driven between the two is 200 to 300 kilometers. The MG Comet EV is expected to have a 31 KW (41 PS) or 50 kW (68 PS) engine. The types that would be released are unknown, although the smaller 18kWh unit would be the most economical for India. We learned that Tata Autocomp would provide the LFP cell-based Comet EV battery. Comet, the smallest car in MG's lineup in India, gives customers an affordable opportunity to learn more about electric cars. Both the SWB and LWB models of Wuling Air have two doors, with the LWB having four seats. The SAIC, GM, and Wuling-developed GSEV (Global Small Electric Vehicle) platform serves as the foundation for the MG Comet EV. Other features are anticipated to include automatic climate control, two 10.2′′ horizontal displays, a 2-spoke steering wheel, an electronic parking brake, and voice control.
