Chinese company BYD seeks to touch 90% of Indian EV market
As it expands its line of electric vehicles beyond the Rs 30 lakh price range, Chinese manufacturer BYD intends to capture 90% of the Indian EV market by the end of the year.
BYD India is attempting to obtain homologation certification from ARAI for its electric SUV Atto 3, which will ease the ban on import volume of 2,500 units. BYD India debuted its electric sedan SEAL, priced between Rs 41 lakh and Rs 53 lakh.
“Our goal is to service 90% of India's EV market. By the end of the year, we want to have established ourselves in both big towns and tier-1 cities” according to Sanjay Gopalakrishnan, senior vice president of BYD India's electric passenger car division.
The BYD India automobile division currently sells the BYD ATTO 3 SUV and the e6 MPV through a network of 24 showrooms located in 21 locations.
