Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd. (HPCL), in a partnership with electric vehicle solution provider Kazam, has listed its 5,350 electric vehicle (EV) chargers, including 3,043 DC fast chargers, on the Kazam app.

By utilising Kazam's Open Charge Point Interface (OCPI) platform, the integration provides EV users with instant access to HPCL's expanding charging network throughout India. According to the company, EV drivers can now use the app to find, navigate, and charge at HPCL stations.

Under the Government of India's PM eDrive program, HPCL is growing its EV charging infrastructure in addition to running more than 24,000 fuel retail locations. According to the company, the partnership will help it achieve its objectives of promoting cleaner mobility and bolstering the nation's electric vehicle ecosystem.

Citing Paras Shah, COO of Kazam, CNBC TV 18 reported, &ldquo;Kazam&rsquo;s OCPI platform will provide seamless visibility of HPCL chargers, making it easier for users to charge at our stations.&rdquo;

After its first appearance at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and a near-production preview at Auto Expo 2020, the Tata Altroz EV remains in Tata Motors&rsquo; EV roadmap. Recently confirmed to be internally codenamed &lsquo;Ascot&rsquo;, this all-electric premium hatchback was initially expected to be the second EV offering after the Nexon EV.
However, multiple delays &mdash; mainly due to battery packaging challenges &mdash; have pushed its timeline further. Ground clearance constraints caused by the underfloor battery setup led to a drop from 165mm to 145mm, compromising its hatchback stance.
<h3 class="MsoNormal" style="mso-margin-top-alt: auto; mso-margin-bottom-alt: auto; line-height: normal; mso-outline-level: 2;">What&rsquo;s Causing the Delay?</h3>
The Acti.EV architecture, which underpins both the Altroz EV and Punch EV, initially posed a challenge for Altroz due to:

The vehicle features a range of 112km and can reach up to 25km/hr top-speed thanks to its 1.5kWh battery. For Gig workers requiring a higher range, the company provides Ola Gig+ starting from&nbsp;₹49,999. The "+" variant comes with a dual-battery option that provides a maximum range of 157km and a top speed of 45 km/hr. Moreover, the Ola S1Z coming at ₹59,999 is made for urban commuters as the vehicle has a range of 146km. With a top seed of 70 km/hr, the vehicle provides fast acceleration, making it fit for young adults. Meanwhile, the "+" variant of the Ola S1Z will cost ₹64,999 and provide enhanced payload capacity and durability with no change in range and speed.&nbsp; Furthermore, tackling the power availability, the <a href="https://evindia.online/ola-electric-buyers-guide" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Ola Electric</a> has also unveiled the company's one of its kind portable inverter called PowerPod, costing ₹9,999.&nbsp;Since, Ola is the first time featuring removable batteries the PowerPod will provide three hours of backup for essentials like lights, fans, and TVs with the help of a removable battery.

Moreover, to maintain competitive pricing, the low-cost EV is anticipated to be highly localised. Skoda thinks that a low sticker price is achieved by producing EVs locally. Any business that wants to start producing EVs and associated parts locally must find a market with high volume and enough sales to cover the first investment. The Enyaq and Elroq EVs will be Skoda's first foray into the Indian EV market, however, Indian markets are yet to see locally-made, reasonably-priced EVs. Ultraviolette, an Indian two-wheeler OEM has introduced a new adventure concept at EICMA 2024. The Ultraviolette Concept X, the company’s new electric bike concept is reported to be based on F77. Previously, the company has showcased the F99 at the same event.&nbsp; The Ultraviolette Concept X is an adventure tourer designed on the F77 Mach 2. The electric adventure motorbike has an upright riding position with a long handlebar rather than clip-ons, a high front fender, a tall windscreen, tank shrouds and lever guards. All of them work nicely together to give the motorcycle an adventurous appearance. The motorcycle maintains its pannier attachments, which were carried over from the F77 model itself. Other features include a crash shield around the battery pack and auxiliary lighting on the sides, which complete the functioning of the adventure idea. In terms of features, the motorbike keeps USD forks and a monoshock at the back, however, it is unknown whether the suspension travel is more than the original F77. The motorbike is equipped with 17-inch road tyres on both ends, as well as front and rear disc brakes. The seat is likewise one-piece, and Ultraviolette has changed the geometry of the rake angle. The company has not yet revealed any other facts about the electric bike including its battery capacity. It might be carried over from the F77 Mach 2, with two options for battery capacity and range. In other countries, the SUV is available in two different battery pack variants for usage. The first utilises 51 kWh of LFP chemistry cells and claims a range of 344 kilometres. For a longer range, there is also a 69 kWh pack that uses NMC cells and boasts a range of up to 480 kilometres (WLTP cycle).&nbsp; Additionally, the brand said that the EX90 will launch when the EX30 enters the Indian market. “Our plan is pretty clear: each year, we want to introduce one new BEV product. SUVs are the next two in the lineup, although there may be additional body styles after that. India currently represents our smallest market in the area, but I don't think that it will remain such way.” Persson predicted that electrification would happen more quickly in the premium end of the market than in the mass market, saying, "I would expect higher growth in India than in the rest of the region."&nbsp; The MD of Volvo Cars India, Jyoti Malhotra, stated: "More than 25% of our inventory that we sell in India is electric. We want to penetrate a new market sector with the EX30, so I'm confident it will help us grow even further." The XC40 Recharge and C40 Recharge are the two electric vehicles that Volvo currently offers for sale in India. These EVs will soon be referred to as EX40 and EC40, respectively, in accordance with the company's new nomenclature. The company just achieved a significant milestone: 1,000 electric vehicles delivered to the Indian market.

VinFast Auto, a manufacturer of <a href="https://evindia.online/" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank" style="background-color: transparent; color: rgb(17, 85, 204);">electric vehicles</a>, announced on Wednesday that it will buy a 99.8% share in VinES, a manufacturer of batteries, from Pham Nhat Vuong in order to strengthen its position as a market leader and increase its integration into the industrial value chain. As an EV manufacturer looking to save 5% to 7% on battery prices, VinFast, which was supported by Vietnam's largest conglomerate Vingroup, said that the strategic purchase of VinES, another company within the Vingroup ecosystem, would help it ensure the supply of batteries. VinFast was founded in 2017 and will begin producing EVs in 2021. It has received ongoing financial backing from its creator, who is also the richest man in Vietnam. VinFast stated in a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission that it would purchase VinES for nothing more than the assumption of debt totalling around $462 million, with Vuong prepared to offer the EV manufacturer grants for all interest payments related to current VinES borrowings through to 2027. According to Thuy Le, VinFast's global CEO, "the purchase of VinES will help VinFast control our battery technology and supply chain, thereby optimising operating expenses and enhancing technology content in our electric vehicles." However, the manufacturer predicted that VinFast's expenditures for battery R&amp;D and plant operations will rise in the near future. VinFast will take over all of VinES' rights and responsibilities following the purchase. According to Thuy Le, VinFast, which was listed on the Nasdaq in August, intends to build kit assembly facilities in Indonesia's nickel-rich nation and to partner with VinES to use the metal to make batteries. For the three months that ended on September 30, the automaker's revenue increased by 159% to $343 million. Its $623 million net loss increased by 33.7%. More than half of the 13,000 units it sold in the second and third quarters of this year went to its affiliate.
