To celebrate crossing the milestone of delivering 5,000 electric cars, BMW India has inaugurated a 4,000 km-long high-power charging corridor that stretches from the north to the south of India. With the update, BMW has become the first luxury automobile manufacturing company to achieve this milestone, Hindustan Times reported.

Citing Mr. Vikram Pawah, President and CEO of BMW Group India, HT reported, "BMW Group India is immensely proud to become the first luxury carmaker to cross the remarkable milestone of 5,000 electric vehicle deliveries.”

Further, he said, “This achievement is not just a number, it represents our unwavering commitment to e-mobility and pioneering spirit in the premium EV landscape. At BMW, luxury and performance is delivered seamlessly with sustainability, and our electric products embody this philosophy. In this journey, we will continue to delight our customers with the most electrifying products and services that provide complete peace of mind. To mark this milestone, we are happy to introduce our high-power charging corridor. Across the length of the nation, from Jammu to Madurai, EV customers can now just sit back and enjoy Sheer Driving Pleasure without a second thought,” the report added.

The newly built corridor will span across national highways and cities like Delhi, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Pune,  Ahmedabad, Coimbatore and Madurai.

Charging stations throughout the route will feature a capacity ranging from 120 kW to 720 kW and will provide rapid charging facilities for new-gen EVs. These stations are reported to be established by BMW in collaboration with Statiq and Zeon.

The business claims that the charging stations' sites were chosen with the convenience of its customers in mind, placing them close to public areas where drivers may utilise in-car entertainment or food outlets while stopping for a charge.
